"The weekly meeting of House Democrats on Tuesday erupted over stark disagreements about how the party should fight President Trump.

Rep. Michael Capuano (D-Mass.), a leadership ally, stood during the Democrats’ closed-door caucus meeting to denounce Rep. Brad Sherman’s (D-Calif.) impeachment push as a selfish maneuver that could hurt fellow Democrats and candidates at home, according to a source in the room.

.... Sherman on Monday introduced an article of impeachment against the president, accusing Trump of obstructing justice when he fired former FBI Director James Comey last month.

But Democratic leaders and their allies have been incensed by the move toward impeachment, arguing that the facts don’t sufficiently support such a weighty tactic –– yet –– and warning that lawmakers should await more details in the ongoing investigations before launching such an aggressive attack.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who has tried in recent weeks to tamp down the talk of impeachment, backed Capuano on Tuesday, the source said. She argued that the Democrats should focus on bread-and-butter issues like the economy while allowing the various investigations into the Russia-Trump saga play out on their own terms.

Rep. Joseph Crowley (D-N.Y.), chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, also criticized Sherman and the other handful of Democrats urging impeachment."

"Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg thinks there's a "55 percent chance" President Trump will be reelected in 2020.

Bloomberg, who politically identifies as independent, told New York Times columnist Frank Bruni that he thought Democrats didn't have an effective message to win the 2016 election and could repeat that mistake in 2020.

“Hillary said, ‘Vote for me because I’m a woman and the other guy’s bad,’ ” Bloomberg said about 2016.

He said Democrats are still looking for issues and messages. And he worries that too many Democrats are eager to jump into the 2020 race."

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said she’s concerned by former FBI Director James Comey’s testimony Thursday that ***** asked him to downplay his “investigation” into the Democratic presidential nominee as merely a “matter.” "

JOHN KING, CNN CHIEF NATIONAL CORRESPONDENT on James Comey testimony on Thursday, June 8, 2017: ..... "A number of significant things. One, this won't get much attention because it's in the rearview mirror but a pretty damming account from Jim Comey there about Loretta *****, the former attorney general in the Obama administration and her handling of the Clinton e-mail investigation. It won't get much attention but that was pretty damming."

JAMES COMEY to the Senate Intelligence Committee, June 8, 2017: “The attorney general had directed me not to call it an investigation, but instead to call it a matter, which confused me and concerned me. That was one of the bricks in the load that led me to conclude, ‘I have to step away from the department if we’re to close this case credibly.’”

JAMES COMEY to the Senate Judiciary Committe Wednesday, May 3, 2017: "I'm not picking on the Attorney General Loretta *****, who I like very much," Comey said. "But her meeting with President Clinton on that airplane was the capper for me. [After that], I then said, you know what, the [Justice Department] cannot by itself credibly end this."

JOHN DICKERSON, FACE THE NATION: Let me ask about the previous attorney general.

Lindsey Graham suggested she should come and the testify. Do you think she did anything wrong, based on what Jim Comey testified?

SENATE MINORITY LEADER CHUCK SCHUMER: Look, I heard what Comey said, and he said he was troubled by it. I respect him a great deal. But I haven't heard Loretta *****'s side of the story. So, I'm not going to come to a conclusion as to who was right or wrong or whether it rises to the level that she should come testify.

DICKERSON: In the political back and forth here, people look at Democrats not getting very exercised about Loretta ***** and what she may have done to be possibly meddling in that investigation into Hillary Clinton's e-mail server, and the Democrats don't seem to listen so much to James Comey when he's talking about Loretta *****, but take everything he says about the president as gospel.

Doesn't that just kind of put this into the normal partisan sorting and people kind of look at this and say, well, it is just Democrats and Republicans bickering again?

James Woolsey is a Democrat and was CIA director during Bill Clinton's administration.

"In an interview with CNN's Fareed Zakaria, former CIA Director James Woolsey argues that former FBI director James Comey's admission that he was the source of a leaked memo documenting a private conversation with President Trump is symbolic of increasing disarray within the executive branch, of a sort the U.S. has never seen before. He says that many people in the intelligence community don't oppose President Trump's policies as much as they oppose his personality, and their blind hate towards him is leading them to tear down the fabric of the federal government's normal division of power. He also said certain agencies, without naming examples, were no longer serving the interests of the U.S. government, but were now serving their own goals and agendas.

"It is certainly something that we have to get our hands on, and we have to do it now. Because the next time the Russians try to interfere with our elections is a year and a half from now. We are going to lose our ability to choose our leaders if we don't understand and deal with it," Woolsey said about the threat from Russia, which most intelligence agencies are hopelessly distracted from.

"We have to get the executive branch, in particular the intelligence agencies and the law enforcement community, pulled together, working together, and behind the president in pulling things into a working order. We don't have that now. And I think some elements of both the intelligence community and the law enforcement community have veered off looking for the own interests, and not looking for the interests of the country. This has to get repaired, and it has to get repaired quickly," he explained. "

But Merkel's hoped-for alliance is crumbling, underscoring Germany's relative political weakness globally. Many countries are wary of angering the United States."

"The most stunning thing in James Comey’s testimony to the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence was what he said about special prosecutors, also called special counsels.“ After former President Clinton met on the plane with the attorney general, I considered whether I should call for the appointment of a special counsel and decided that would be an unfair thing to do because I knew there was no case there,” Comey testified, speaking of the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email server. “And calling for the appointment of a special counsel would be brutally unfair because it would send the message, ‘Uh-huh, there’s something here.’ ” Sen. John Cornyn, who was questioning the former FBI director, asked, “If a special counsel had been appointed, they could have made that determination there was nothing there and declined to pursue it, right?” “Sure,” Comey answered, “but it would have been many months later or a year later.” Compare that to what he told Sen. Susan Collins at a different point in the hearing, when she asked, “Did you show copies of your memos to anyone outside the Department of Justice?” “Yes,” Comey testified. “The president tweeted on Friday after I got fired that I better hope there’s not tapes. I woke up in the middle of the night on Monday night because it didn’t dawn on me originally, that there might be corroboration for our conversation. There might be a tape. My judgment was, I need to get that out into the public square. I asked a friend of mine to share the content of the memo with a reporter. Didn’t do it myself for a variety of reasons. I asked him to because I thought that might prompt the appointment of a special counsel.”

Let’s go over that again.Comey wanted to prevent the appointment of a special counsel for Hillary Clinton, who was the subject of an FBI investigation, but he wanted to “prompt” the appointment of a special counsel for President Trump, who was not the subject of an FBI investigation."

You nailed it. Comey lost all credibility. He has a personal ax to grind and has admitted to looking the other way on HRC/*****. All in the span of 9 months. He cannot and should not be trusted. The additional cloak and dagger nonsense with the leaked notes is just comical.

As for Trump, obviously he thinks there is a case there. This isn't rocket science.
