Veterans should not be on SNAP . They should be taken care of from the funds of the Veterans' Administration. Progressives apparently weren't concerned about their Health Care, as they were left out of the ACA COMPLETELY. Many Veterans are moving back and forth across the lines of Medicare and Veterans Services. It is a huge disgrace how both parties, yes, both parties, have left them hanging. But Progressives gave them the shaft when they tackled Health care.
One would hope that shots are never fired in anger. emotional responses many times prove to be dangerous. The best offense is a great defense. When you are feared , you are safer.

What I wrote is true regarding SNAP purchases. I would be willing to compromise. I would even lower the requirements if we limited the offerings to Non- Processed Foods. Processed foods are higher in sugar and other questionable ingredients. According to Yale University study for the American Journal of Preventive Medicine 58 % of beverages purchased by Snap recipients are soda and sugar based. Think about the implications on dental health alone.

This gives you an idea regarding their shopping habits. Additional data reveals than within many major cities, the highest percentage of soda and sugar laden beverages purchased
are in those areas with the highest amount of SNAP users.

The USDA is supposed to release definitive date on SNAP purchases this spring. Otherwise, we only have selected studies, like Yale to look at. There is a strong indication that the USDS data will substantiate what the studies have indicated.
Rhetoric.... I will counter with a fact. Boone County, KY. Poorest county in the US, 99% white, 81% Republican, 50% SNAP...... Trump Country!!!!!!!

BTW - Walmart, Kraft Foods, Wegmans, Pepsi, and Coca Cola all lobby heavily for SNAP. Without them they would go belly up....

Since the government doesn't track SNAP use by category the truth is that the number is estimated more correctly by UNBIASED sources at about 28%. Which based upon my experience is probably representative of foods in the average supermarket and shoppers basket. There are dozens of different names for sugar and it is ubiquitous. Should SNAP not be used for foods with high sugar content? I think that is a reasonable debate. But if that effort were undertaken how long before the lobbyists for the HFCS and Sugar lobbies are pounding on the doors of teaparty congressman whining that it is their constitutional right to poison MURICA with their product..... But that is what nutters do. They on the one hand rail against the poor choices the working poor make but then make sure that they have ample access to those same products so their buttbuddies in corporate American can line their pockets.
Exactly.....once you learn how to look for it its amazing how often they "hear" stuff.....

Your fact vs my facts. no contest. it is absolutely clear regarding the link between sugar laden substances like soda and diabetes and obesity. So why is the Government using tax dollars to enable disease ? Why are Progressives supporting it ?

Since when are Progressives concerned with the well being of Walmart ?

              Nice try.

White folks are the majority. It is expected that they would have more participants.

63.7% of the country is "white"
39.8% of the SNAP recipients are "white"

That doesn't really mean much, as there are other demographic and cultural factors to be taken into account, in my opinion. Just a PhD opinion, but mine nonetheless.

So non-whites are 36.3 % of the population and are 60.2 % of the participants ?

That's what my research tells me. But, I tapped out with a Masters, not a PhD, so I'm an eedeeaht.

I'd prefer to not align it by color, that seems like fitting an answer into a question. But, the other guy keeps bringing it up....

With Progressives many times Race has to be injected into the issue . They have to keep that victims list relevant.

With conservatives they need to keep denying that racial animus motivates them.

                            see how that works nutters?

oh...a master's....meaning the sorta graduate degree that people PAY for who cant get a free graduate ride in a doctoral program.

you PAID for a masters degree? what a rube. Maybe you are an idiot ...god i would have never PAID for a masters in my field.....relatively meaningless since it is so inferior to a PhD in terms of training (closer to BS level work) yet so expensive.....

The Government has been using tax dollars to fight air borne disease with regulations of the EPA, which was started by a Republican President.

Oil and Gas companies generate tremendous tax opportunities for the Government to repair roads and maintain infrastructure.

The only comment on soda and sugar laden beverages is to agree that there is a link to obesity and diabetes.

You can only laugh at yourself for being too ignorant to hold yourself in a debate. You're simply not ready for prime time. But keep the juvenile tag line , as it offers insight into your personality.
