Registered Republicans of course had no incentive to leave party for primary as they could vote for trump alternative in primary. Right wing news sites are obviously not reporting about how many republicans are stepping forward to say they will vote for Hillary or Bernie rather than trump. Suspect it will be a lot more than go other way.

We shall see. A lot of references to "civil war" in press today though.
These people are more than likely blue collar Democrats, the staple of the Democrat party. They are feeling abandoned by the party who is pushing trade treaties and immigration policies that have hurt them. If 20,000 are leaving the party in the very blue state of Massachusetts, how many are leaving in the rust belt and across the south? Remember too the saying that goes something like this: "What you say in the union hall isn't the same as what play in the voting booth."

So, I'll try again, posing it differently:

Should Obama disavow the Panthers like Trump should've disavowed the KKK?

      Both are racists groups
      Both preach hate
      Both are not mainstream groups
      Are the panthers still active?
Cheez, I thought they were a group from the 70s

yes, the are. Didn't you watch the Super Bowl?

Both groups are waning in popularity since the 70's.

        Answer the question please.

I also denounce all hat groups! Especially those dopey hats with propellers on top.

The NBP is a radical non- BP supported group.
-Did they ever endorse Obama? Why would Obama call out this hate group versus any other hate group?

              https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Black_Panther_Party

The New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense (NBPP) is a U.S.-based black political organization founded in Dallas, Texas, in 1989. Despite its name, NBPP is not an official successor of the Black Panther Party.[2] Members of the original Black Panther Party have insisted that the newer party is illegitimate and have firmly declared, "There is no new Black Panther Party".[2]

The fact is, then-Senator Obama didn’t “speak with” the New Black Panthers, he spoke at a commemoration of the 1965 Selma, Alabama march, which Shabazz and Co. also attended and spoke at, . It wasn’t a campaign event, it was open to the public, and that supposedly damning “photo” is a screen cap from a YouTube video that shows Malik Zulu Shabazz among a crowd of thousands marching behind then-Sen. Barack Obama and then-Sen. Hillary Clinton. In a radio interview, Shabazz claimed to have “met” Obama at that event, but never to have spoken with him.

For the same reason why Trump should denounce the KKK. They didn't officially endorse him, yet he is being blamed as a supporter of the group. It's no different than Obama and the radical groups supporting him.

                  Answer the question.

Queen B ROCKED it didn't she? We're still talking about it.

The black panther group was for black power - e.g. like black lives - it wasn't anti and isn't anti. The NBP tries to hide in their shadow but is not them. Just fyi.

Thought the ladies really represented - can't imagine why anyone would be threatened by them showing power?

Give me reputable sources for the quotes. But like I said - if what you said they said was true then I condemn it. A lot of stuff that is said on the internet is BS - hearsay. I didn't even realize the original Black Panthers disbanded and there was a New Black Panthers until a week ago. They clearly are not a prominent group as I listen to ALOT of news.

oops, of course back in the 70's, 40 years ago we were revolutionaries, but we are past that and an integral part of the establishment. Much like the Israeli government that was part of the terrorist group that brought it forth.

So, the answer is "no" then? Our President should NOT denounce hate groups that support him, and Trump should. Whether or not either ASKED for the support isn't the question, as neither appear to have done so. Although, one could argue each's rhetoric opened the door.

                          Thank you for your reply.

When did the NBP endorse Obama?

I can't see where they did. I can't see where David Duke and the KKK did either, yet Trump is called upon to denounce them.

So, doesn't matter. He should denounce them and their hate-filled rhetoric, just like Trump has been asked (demanded) to do. 11 years in, I can't see where a single word was uttered to any of "those" groups.

Still no answers to the question....
