(Reuters) - Two months after signing it, President Donald Trump has not begun enforcing a law imposing new sanctions on Russia, Iran and North Korea, Senators John McCain and Ben Cardin said in a letter seen by Reuters on Friday.
Also, with just two days to go, his administration has not provided information related to Russia's defense and intelligence sectors required under the measure by Sunday, they said.
White House officials did not respond to a request for comment on the letter from McCain, the Republican chairman of the Armed Services Committee, and Cardin, the ranking Democrat on the Foreign Relations Committee.

meanwhile Trump is off to do some more golfing and tweeting
President Donald Trump misrepresented the crisis facing Puerto Rico Friday, bragging that people “can’t believe how successful” the administration has been at saving lives following Hurricane Maria.
“The loss of life, it’s always tragic. But it’s been incredible,” Trump told reporters Friday before taking off for his golf course in New Jersey. “The results that we’ve had with respect to loss of life. People can’t believe how successful that has been, relatively speaking.”
Just minutes later, San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz painted a very different picture of the situation at a press conference.
“I am going to do what I never thought I would do. I am begging, begging anyone who can hear us to save us from dying,” Cruz said.
Speaking of the government’s response to the crisis, Cruz said, “We are dying and you are killing us with the inefficiency.”

[I]The term Tea Party was fading out, but he'd (Trump) cracked its code. The power of his appeal was not rooted in policy or ideology. He was offering, as*David Brooks wrote this week, "to shred the dominant American culture and to give voice to those who felt voiceless in that culture." And not to give a damn about the party establishment or the conventions of politics along the way. It got him the GOP nomination and just enough converts in the Rust Belt to eke out an Electoral College win.
This is why his presidency has produced no meaningful legislative feats. The commitment of the Trump base to doing away with Obamacare is mainly attitudinal. The legislation Republicans have come up with has generated, at best,*a lukewarm response*from GOP voters — and wide disapproval from the rest of the electorate. Trump himself*has seemed detached from and uninterested in the process, as if he senses that legislative sausage-making might rebrand him as exactly the kind of politician he ran against.
Meanwhile, Trump throws himself with abandon into culture-war battles, as he’s now doing with the NFL, and he*accuses the GOP’s congressional leaders of failing him. It leads pundits to scratch their heads. How will he ever rack up actual accomplishments if he’s alienating the legislators he needs to pass bills? The Trump base doesn’t seem to want those kinds of accomplishments, though. Consider what just happened in Alabama. Trump sided with Luther Strange, the appointed incumbent and favorite of the GOP establishment.
It could be a moment of reckoning for the leaders of Washington’s Republican establishment. For nearly a decade, they have strained to channel the base's energy into a unifying platform. But it may be that all the base has ever really wanted was for them to be gone — all of them.*

Yup, and the libs took the bait.
Russia used Facebook ads in 2016 to both encourage and inflame identity politics in America as part of its cyber-operation against the U.S., according to new reports. Previous media coverage on Russian influence operations within the United States has overwhelmingly focused on*reported attempts*to stir up America’s political right-wing, but new reporting indicates that Russia also sought to promote the identity-focused politics that currently dominates America’s political Left.*
Russian accounts targeted Baltimore and Ferguson — both hubs of racial activism — with pro-Black Lives Matter messaging, CNN*reported this week.*The Washington Post*reported*that the Russian ads promoted other “African American rights groups” in addition to Black Lives Matter. Then, on Thursday night, CNN reported that popular black activist accounts operating on Facebook and Twitter under the name “Blacktivist” were*linked to the Russian government. Blacktivist accounts frequently stoked racial outrage about police shootings and mass incarceration of black men. Blacktivist’s Facebook account had 360,000 likes — more than the official Black Lives Matter account. Russian operations similarly targeted American Muslims with anti-American messages, The Daily Beast*reported.*

The left's version of patriotism.
Anti-Trump ‘Resistance’ Groups Spreading North Korean Propaganda
Two of the nation’s most active anti-Trump “resistance” organizations are taking decidedly pro-North Korea stances in the United States’ developing nuclear standoff with the communist country, whose leader, Kim Jong Un, has repeatedly threatened to launch a nuclear strike against America. One group is Refuse Fascism, a well-funded “resistance” group created for the express purpose of opposing President Trump’s administration. Internal presentations from a Refuse Fascism conference last month said the group intends to make America’s leaders lose “international legitimacy” as a way of ultimately bringing down the Trump presidency, as TheDC*first reported.
The other group is Workers World Party, a Marxist organization that has played a leading role in anti-Trump demonstrations across the country. Both groups have consistently echoed North Korean talking points that demonize America while excusing Un’s genocidal regime, and both groups have instructed their followers to distrust American media reporting that reflects negatively on North Korean leaders’ oppression of their own people.
