He was fired because all confidence has been lost in the leadership of the FBI, from both sides of the aisle. There have been too many FBI investigations that have provided no resolution, everything he touches results in more questions than answers.

I'm anxious to see the video. My guess is that he was way to eager for an answer and made an ass of himself. The Secretary is under no obligation to answer any and every question barked out at him and this was in the West Virginia State House. The aggressive behavior of the press has been ratcheting up, many reporters are trying to make news rather than cover it.Comment

The Trump administration has been more open to the press than the Obama administration ever was despite Trump's criticism of the press. At least Trump hasn't yet named any reporter a "criminal co-conspirator" under the Espionage Act as Obama did to James Rosen or subpoena reporters' phone records as he did to the Associated Press. But you can be sure the media will be all over this claiming Trump is assaulting Freedom of the Press. No wonder Schumer was so upset. As anyone with a brain knows she's guilty. So far, Trump's not -- and considering how long this has gone on without a smidgen of evidence, that's highly unlikely to change.
Yes, I know both Trump and Sessions had pledged not to pursue the "Clinton matter" and let bygones be bygones. But that was before the onslaught, the so-called "Resistance" that has made governing so impossible for the administration. It's been non-stop ugliness since the inauguration and even before. Graciousness was not, in the slightest, rewarded. Indeed Clinton herself has now declared herself part of the "Resistance" (has she brushed up on her French?) -- talk about opening the door. As someone once said, "Punch back twice as hard."
But it was impossible to punch back with an understaffed and politically compromised Justice Department and an FBI director who was at once all-powerful and bizarrely mercurial. Tucker Carlson reported Tuesday night that guests on his show often told him how much they "feared" Comey -- but only during the commercial. Well, they have less to be afraid of now.
It's Hillary who has a lot to worry about. The renewed Justice Department with Rosenstein holds the cards and this time the punch should have real force, possibly even fatal. Start by empaneling a grand jury. Maybe add a soupçon of Benghazi testimony. The sky's the limit when you've got justice on your side."

What we know for sure because it was right there on C-SPAN is that Comey testified under oath that Huma Abedin forwarded “hundreds and thousands” of emails to her husband's laptop which left the FBI scrambling as to how to correct his false testimony. Just another Comey blopper that undermined confidence in the agency.
