Argument #1: Elite schools like NESCACs or Ivies are not diverse, and therefore do not prepare white students for the "real world" in terms of race. This is a poor argument, since white students are technically a lower % of the student body at these schools than the general population. The real issues are less race-based than economically based.
Argument #2: Elite schools do not admit student populations that accurately reflect the diversity of their applicant pool. This is where high-achieving Asian students may have a legitimate complaint. The admissions process is messy and can be criticized as unfair - as the Harvard case demonstrates. That has to do with access, however, and has nothing to do with adequately preparing kids for the diverse world they'll live in after graduation.
