    That's 2 separate arguments.

Argument #1: Elite schools like NESCACs or Ivies are not diverse, and therefore do not prepare white students for the "real world" in terms of race. This is a poor argument, since white students are technically a lower % of the student body at these schools than the general population. The real issues are less race-based than economically based.

Argument #2: Elite schools do not admit student populations that accurately reflect the diversity of their applicant pool. This is where high-achieving Asian students may have a legitimate complaint. The admissions process is messy and can be criticized as unfair - as the Harvard case demonstrates. That has to do with access, however, and has nothing to do with adequately preparing kids for the diverse world they'll live in after graduation.

A NESCAC, of course. Pottery, Happy Hands, Pandemics I and II, and Stats for Poets.

No, not really. the question was how diverse is the actual student body, not the diversity of the applicant pool.

I just did a cut and paste...seems like Williams is more diverse than the rest of the country.
It isn't - Hispanics and African Americans make up a larger percentage of the total US than at Williams. Asians at Williams are double their US numbers. I don't count "more Asians" as "more diverse"

Common Fata Set on post #85. There's some non classified, some dual race students, some non residents.

If it was " more diverse " then all the races would be represented at a larger rate than the general pop. Instead only one race is.

Black-washing your admit pool with those polished at Tabor and Middlesex isn’t diversity.
It’s just darker pigmentation in the same pair of Mountain Khakis

Here’s the Pell Grant grad percentage by school. You’ll scroll A LOT to find the NESCACs. Amherst is the best at 25%(tied with UMass Amherst BTW), but they’re well behind UMass Boston, Lowell and Dartmouth. The next closest NESCAC is Conn College.

NESCACs may be “racially” diverse, but they’re not exactly lifting people of color up, especially in relation to their endowments.
