So frustrating, just receieved am email from the Director of Metrowest Region and my son's coach stating that due to lack of number of players (last years boys that stayed and the new players who have come on to the team) being less than they thought, my son's team in Fall will be a composite team made of two age groups. After eveything I read about this club, I thought this was not supposed to happen to a club like this. Frustrating.

Reality is if your kid is a baller, he can play up a year no problem. If he can't, he likely isn't a baller. Once kids play in HS, it's mixed age groups. If you play in college, it's mixed age group. If a player can't figure out how to be effective and impactful against older players in HS, then HS is likely the end of his soccer career.

Why do we allow people to use this term?
It has no reference in this sport.
At least make an effort to be semi-literate about the sport.
But, please feel free to post while you trim your goatee and roll up your t-shirt sleeves to show us your Mom tattoo

It is odd how angry some of these people on this site are. I was just hoping to get an objective view or response and just got laid into. This guy doesn't even know anything about my child.
Thanks again. Hsve a great day

This post, assuming it's real and not another case of another club planting seeds of disruption against a rival club, is very different depending on if your player is currently 07 born and entering 8th grade or not.
As someone has stated already rising 8th grade 2007 born club soccer players are "trapped 8th graders". The club system does not consider Fall to be part of a "senior player" season because "senior players" are in HS grades and will normally be playing HS soccer in the Fall. This year 2007 born players will be considered "Senior players".
The usual club contract for these players will include a couple late Fall tournaments, Winter training, and a Spring season/tournaments. The offer to put together some kind of team for the 07 birth year players entering 8th grade is kind of seen by the clubs as an extra they can provide to keep 8th graders playing. You can get lucky and get same birth year kids from a few different teams playing together in Fall or you may end up with a mix of 07s and 08s.
The stronger higher-level teams are, not surprisingly, made up mostly of kids born earlier in the year and more likely to have to field teams of mixed birth year because the majority of the team is in HS. The coach may be correct in that the team he joined will be a very strong team but that team doesn't start until late Fall tournaments and Winter training.
Now if none of that applies to your player and the club still had to combine birth years for the team then that's a bad sign.

Honesty in short supply here
Originally posted by Unregistered View PostAgreed. And from what I saw at tryouts & ID clinic in the MetroWest region, they were not hurting on numbers.
Please be honest at the very least.
You obviously are either llying or you were not there and are just trying to get this in the discussion.
I was there and the numbers in metrowest region were low, more so, because my child's team and assume other NEFC teams were told to attend
Just be honest please.

Oh yes, you caught us.... LOL
Seriously though, do you really think anyone cares that NEFC has created a buiilding to use for office's for the staff amd some 9 v 9 fields?
Or, can we actualy and really, truly be parents who have questions which have gone unanswered repeatedly by NEFC Metrowest staff, the director and the coaches.
Questions relating to size (lack thereof) of specific teams, some teams still do.not even have a coach assigned, parents of kids already on teams were told that they had enough players for one age group teams (which we now know is a lie because we have receieved an email from NEFC staff/coaches indicating composite teams with younger age group added.
Say what you want about 1 girls team doing well and a boys team that won because they (a year ago brought down two brothers from another team previously placed 1 age group higher and those two boys accounted for about 60-70% of their actual scoring .
So, 1 or 2 two teams succesa thus does not make a Clubs success.
Please, do not take awaty our concerns as parents of players that are already on this team. You are more than likely management or staff from NEFC Metrowest amd are trying to deflect the problems which are real within the NEFC metrowest program. Also, if you want to "check" our Validity as Real Parents or Real Players at NEFC Metrowest.... Just look, have any of us said these are NEFC (as a whole Club problems? The answer is No.)
Just let us express our concerns- it seems as if this is tje only way we can have NEFC Staff and Mgmt respond to our concerns- I guess that is something.
