It’s about youth soccer. A lot of college coaches are looking internationally for players for good reason. Internationally FIFA allows for fair and open competition at the Academy level. We suppress competition in the US through politics, and we have accepted this substandard system.

We had that not too long ago, and it was called MAPLE.
MA Premier League, open to all clubs regardless of size and promo-rele from the jump.

and how did Maple make out over the years? Other than select blowing up that league as well it was only a marginal league. Over the years it is amazing how many leagues have folded or get severely damaged by someone over at select just looking out for herself.

Mass. youth club soccer is really small so 3 teams in the ECNL seems to be enough. Anymore and it becomes too watered down.

Can’t blame maple downfall on select that was on gps. Not sure how long you have been around the MA soccer but maple was a very competitive league with some of the best teams in the history of MA club soccer playing in it.

Ha, ha….. Select is far from a powerhouse and they are not getting accepted into the ECNL. Let’s keep it real too with the virtual call ups as it was on-line and not live and on the field. A lot of this is politics too. Select, Stars and NEFC are all strong teams and are the top three in Massachusetts. Keep the focus on development and progression yearly and Don’t get caught up in the BS as both leagues are heavily recruited at their national showcases …. Check out the lists.
