Killed one out of 10 who became infected. Probably hundreds of millions over 3,000 years. You haven’t got a clue what you are talking about.

Great point ... it never went away ... when was the last small pox pandemic? Epidemic? Oh, so it, effectively, went away. Thanks for confirming. Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Black Plague, Ebola, West Nile, SARS, MIRS, Spanish Flu..... How those all doing these days? NO VIRUS HAS EVER MAINTAINED IT VIRULENCE TO DATE AFTER A FEW YEAR OF BEING NOVEL HAVE WORN OFF (with or without the aid of a vaccine). Many people gain natural resistances (including to Small Pox prior to the creation of a vaccine for it) and that helps to lower the affects of the symptoms for many or make them immune entirely. Read a little about Darwin my friend.

Polio? Not eradicated, merely almost eradicated with effective vaccine campaigns. But because not everyone is vaccinated - or ever had it - we can't stop vaccinating people. Small pox "could" come back - it's in labs and people aren't inoculated for it any longer. An outbreak would kill people again.

Get back on your meds, Buddy. You are spouting serious nonsense. First, most of the diseases you mention (measles, mumps, rubella, etc.) still broadly exist and would be out of control if many people in developed countries weren’t vaccinated against them. Second, not all are viruses, let alone airborne viruses like Covid, so Black Plague, Ebola, West Nile are very much still around, but they don’t spread as easy because you need blood/bodily fluid contact spread by fleas or mosquitoes (Black Plague, West Nike). SARs and MERs also are still probably lurking somewhere after aggressive containment, but they don’t spread as easily Covid. Smallpox is the ONLY virus that has ever begin eradicated thru a worldwide vaccination effort, but it took over 70 years to do it.

You live in some sort of fantasy world divorced from facts. Please get help.

You missed the point. HPV can also be prevented through safe sex practices. But it is now a requirement for kids. Mark my words, if there's an HIV vaccine developed, it will become mandatory. Buy stock in big pharma, it only goes up.

HPV is not required. It's optional, and again HIV and HPV can be prevented. Covid is an airborne disease, highly communicable to anyone not just a sex partner

Highly communicable it seems, yes. But has proven impactful to society at large?
The stated goal last march was to flatten the curve. Mission accomplished.

Whatever we are doing now is posturing and political. Little to do with public health and especially far from science

Gates was a product of his time... learned programming on a College’s mainframe while in High School when most had no access to a mainframe. Wrote DOS and stole windows from Apple when x86’s were hobbiest machines and Apple was blazing ahead in the personal computing space. Smart? Sure. Also very lucky and I doubt he could reproduce his results today. Stop idolizing the man for commercial success in one brief moment of our history. It certainly doesn’t give him oligarch-like influence and control over our health or our path forward economically or environmentally.

You are going to the beginning of his career and ignoring the last 20 once he left Microsoft and devoted his time and money the Bill and Gates Foundation. The Foundation is the biggest organization working on vaccines for diseases effecting the poor in the world. He could have taken all his money and blew it on frivolous stuff, but instead he’s put it to good use. That makes him worth of some idolatry and his work certainly makes him an expert on health and the environment. And I say the environment because many of these new diseases like Covid are a direct result of using up natural resources and destroying the environment. Working in places like Africa, Gates has seen this firsthand.

Apple stole the idea from Xerox ... who cares?

What control does he have? Is he running the pharmaceutical companies? He certainly wasn't a fan of Trump''s so wasn't involved with Covid vaccines. Don't mistake a few news appearances talking about Covid with somehow having anything to do with it. He has dedicated all his time the last ten (?) years to improving world health and is well versed and respected in the field, despite his non medical background.

I'm not the poster and I don't "idolize" the guy, but you're not that successful because of luck and timing. He's not living the life of Reilly in retirement either like many rich pri cks do. He's given away serious dough and that is admirable.

Since your posts are so full of facts and knowledge. How do you see the country pulling out of this (soccer aside)? Stay inside until 100% of the world is Covid-free? Because even one person can infect 10 people who infect 10 people and so on and so on... Or, get the vaccine so it limits the effects and try and move the country forward? Make it so that it has a lower death rate than the flu. No one is saying that this isn't serious. But you can't shut the world down...you just can't.

If you are so scared then there is nothing stopping you from moving deep in to the adirondack mountains. You will be safe. Grow your own vegetables and hunt your own meat. Good luck and god speed.
How to pull out of this?
Same method that is as effective as preventing pregnancy...wear a mask.
What is so f’n hard about that?

Positive cases mean nothing, even with two vaccine doses you can still catch and spread coronavirus.
