I think it was legit and appreciate the responses. Like everything else, if you don't agree or think false, move along.

The Stanford closures were coming for a while. They may keep them as college sponsored club sports. And this does not take effect until fall of 2021.

Actually there are no better ways to do it legally....recruiting violation for me to talk to recruits or parents until June 15 Soph Year. Anonymous is the only option.

I've never had this much time on my hands in my life....haven't been allowed on campus since March. Recruiting flurry of June complete. Zooms with admins even cancelled this week b/c they have no news, and we are just in a waiting period waiting to hear the fate of our season when our players are supposed to report back in less than 4 weeks...the Stanford news now has all of us on edge. Normally, I barely have time to take a shower on a normal day, no matter what time of year. But, no team, means greatly reduced work. I don't like being idle one minute and am bored out of my mind--my house and yard are pristine for the first time ever though!

With all the knuckleheads and trolls on this site, I can't blame the skeptics, and am not surprised, but honestly, the questions have been a great way to pass time, and I know they are helpful for some....I know for some, it's hard to believe someone would actually want to spread some positive with all the depressing negative we are being bombarded with from every direction.

Speaking of knuckleheads, any good coach’s stories of PITA parents? As parents, we see them on the sidelines too often, but figure you’ve seen some real loonies.

Definitely a few over the years, but the vast majority of parents do let go when it comes to college, thank goodness. It's just a different environment where the players are now considered young adults, on their own, and we have very little if any interactions with parents, certainly not like the club world. That was a huge plus of graduating from the Club world to college without a doubt.

Totally false! Most parents are lunatics just like this imposter coach, if they weren’t lunatics why would this TS board even exist?

When it comes to positions, players might play different positions on different teams (club, HS, etc.) and different coaches sometimes see the same player as best suited to different roles. Should the player profile themselves with one or multiple positions? Do players get pigeonholed by the profile/resume position, or do college coaches just evaluate them as a player and decide how they’ll best fit into their system? Are some positions more desirable than others? Any difference in how the average scholarship offer applies by position?

Being a lunatic in club where you interact directly with the coach is different than your kid being in an environment he/she choose as a young adult.
Some parents use influence in club or donate a lot of money in club to get playing time for their mia. That does not work in college or should not work in college.

Also, the P5 created their own rules a few years back to protect athletes against scholarships being cancelled for performance. Bottom line is they are one year deals, and the coach is the one who determines if they are renewed.....so coaching changes are the biggest issue that may impact this.

However, I will say most schools are going to act extremely ethical when it comes to this. We have never taken money away from a player (even had a player on a FULL ride kicked off team for multiple violation of team rules and kept her on the payroll b/c we were told that when athletes appeal, the committee at our school will always find in favor of the athlete unless there was some extreme situation with a crime etc). It certainly CAN happen but most schools act very ethically when it comes to this and I think the general thought is if we made the offer is the first place, then we need to hold up our end of the bargain, even if it's a handshake.
                  This answer is wildly inaccurate.

                  Signed, a college coach.

It may vary from school to school depending on the circumstances.

False. All it takes is 2 or 3 complaints to the Athletic Director in college to get a coach fired. Do you really think the parents influence stops when they hit college?

While scholarships are annually renewed, it is an NCAA violation to reduce scholarship solely based on athletic performance. Other circumstances may be academic ineligibility or self-withdrawal. P5 schools may be able to spin a combination plus others like disruption to team culture etc. but it will never solely be reduced on performance as that is not permissable.

                            Disagree.
It depends on the school/AD and coach.

There is never a situation without exceptions to it for sure. Have college coaches been run out before due to parent complaints??....yes. I even know of a couple that were combination of parents and players....and consistent complaints with common themes over years that seemed valid. My disclaimer was I would answer from my lens, and that is that we have very little dealings with parents at all. We also sort of read them the riot act when we have our welcome meeting freshmen year and explain that from there on out all interactions and communications will be directly with their daughters. And, while we are available always if they have any concerns about academics, or their daughter's health and welfare, we will never discuss playing time or any other soccer specific issue with them, and any breach of that will result in their daughter not playing. Harsh but necessary and apparently effective because we don't have issues. Lets hope I didn't jinx myself :)

For those wondering, we do an awful lot of vetting in our process. We have absolutely steered clear of players whose parents have reputations as being lunatics. There are enough talented players without the risk of problems.
