Of course not. In the next 2 weeks more schools will announce no fall athletics. There won't be anyone for the hold outs to play. It's over.

Someone posted on another thread that the Ivy league is considering moving football to the spring. If they did that I'd think soccer would get moved also.

Not the poster but NO ONE IS HAPPY about what has happened the last few months. It sucks for everyone, except maybe some medical supply and pharmaceutical companies making a mint. We all want things to go back to "normal", but they can't right now.

Problem is once worried parents at other schools catch wind that a few have cancelled they'll pressure their kids' schools to do the same. This is ultimate helicopter wealthy parent league.

Good thing it doesn’t effect kids we would be forced to cancel everything, instead of following simple guidelines like the rest of society.I thought NESCAC was only New England schools so what’s the problem.

Get back to us when you can string a coherent sentence, or even phrase, together.

You must have a tough time understanding people who don't write or speak perfectly, or maybe you're just a jerk.

                      Don't get defensive. Improve.

This is accurate. Ivy league has said it will announce its plans for varsity sports on 7/8. One of the items under consideration is whether to move fall sports to spring. There are clues out there already about what decision to expect--Yale has already announced that sophomores cannot come back to campus for the fall. If that is the case, how can they still have full varsity teams? I can't imagine they will make an exception for varsity athletes--that would be nonsensical and i doubt allowing sophomore athletes would fly with either the administration or the broader student body.

The unfortunate reality is that while New England is actually in pretty good shape, much like Europe, the numerous dopes from elsewhere in the country have likely ruined things for everybody. With kids coming into campus from all over, the challenge of opening campuses has now become incredibly daunting because of our fine friends in FL, TX, CA and elsewhere. I unfortunately don't see how full-scale varsity athletics--which involve precisely the type of group gatherings that facilitate spread--can happen.

Good thing it doesn’t affect young adults.

Schools desperately need to reopen. They can't do that with raging case numbers. Athletics can contribute to case spread because of travel to other parts of the country, bus/plane rides, shared rooms. Other than big football and basketball programs sports are a cash drain for most schools. With budgets stretched as taught as can be, look to see more schools put a pause on fall sports. Over 100 sports teams have been cut altogether, including several at Brown and UCONN.

who will teach if half the faculty is out sick? who runs food service if staff are out sick? who cleans up your kids puke after a frat party bender? what happens when smaller regional hospitals are flooded with cases that have come from campus spread?

Colleges don't live in their own bubble. If they did this would be easy.

Apples and oranges. The UConn cuts were budget cuts. Brown only eliminated several varsity teams, but did not cut any portion of the athletics budget--so the per-team budget actually went up. It does not appear that either decision was related to coronavirus, but as a state school, UConn has annual budget issues, so it may have been a factor there.
