Some of you guys are brutal with the sss hate. Geesh! Yes, sss is a club...a business. Other clubs are businesses too, in the business to make money. No crime there. We choose to hire them for their services & are VERY pleased with the product that we have & still do receive. Otherwise we would move on. Probably no different at any other club. Our daughter knows girls from other clubs, girls that have come from other clubs, & girls that have gone to other clubs. Our experience is that there is NO hate being spun from sss to any girls that have gone. Most of these girls are still buds & stay in contact. Even giving "likes" on social media. Me thinks some of you guys are just negative war mongers! Sss staff has been awesome. If our girl chooses, they can supply more soccer than she could ever want. We're not going anywhere. Just sayin

Not on scholarship, but I got the impression (2nd hand) the approval process was a little invasive. Lots of questions on financial situation, household budget, etc. that some may not be willing to open up. I understand the need to get this info to see if they are truly deserving, but some may not.

"More than 580 Academy athletes participated in the Academy Scholarship Program in 2017-18. In addition to fulfilling their regular club duties, scholarship recipients completed five comprehensive Assignments over the course of the 10-month Academy season to further the idea of rewarding through responsibility. The scholarship program is designed to offset travel costs for players demonstrating financial need. Recipients are awarded funds to help offset the cost for transportstion to/form Academy regualr season games, travel to Academy Showcase events, hotel accomodations, and food expenses when traveling to Academy games/events."
Side note, we are currently tracking the costs in DA compared to NPL. NPL costs included futsal, camps, tournaments, tuition and uniform. DA costs are showcases, tuition, uniform, and longer game travel. Less showcases than tournaments, travel to those is about equal.
I expect the delta to be the overnights for the league play. Should equate to ECNL play, possibly less since there are less restrictions on outside the team play, so camps/futsal would still be on the table.
580 across all BDA and GDA clubs and teams. I'll do the math for you
133 BDA U13+U14 clubs = 133*2 teams*18 players per team = 4,788
BDA 1 team only = 9 clubs * 1 team *20 players = 180
BDA 2 teams only = 6 * 2 teams * 20 players = 240
BDA All U15+ = 77 * 3 * 20 = 4,620
Total Boys = 9,828
GDA clubs with 2 teams = 2 clubs * 2 teams * 20 players = 80
GDA clubs with 3 teams = 5 clubs * 3 teams * 20 players = 300 players
GDA clubs with 4 teams = 58 clubs * 4 teams * 20 players = 4,640
Total Girls = 5,020
Total DA players (not including current U12s) = 14,848
% receiving travel assistance = 3.9%
As for comparing costs between ECNL vs DA vs NPL it gets trickier because some clubs include everything, some charge extra for certain things, some do fundraising to lower fees (most do not). From here all DA events require flights. ECNL has 1-2 many teams can drive to and they have more events so teams can pick which ones they want to go to.
Overall it's an approximate $1,500 difference at the most. To the average middle to upper income family that isn't going to sway that many. They're much more likely to go with the club/league that works best for them.

I can only compare apples-to-apples in my own environment. Previous to DA, there were a lot of 'extras' we did which we do not. Those cost money, whether it be futsal tuition or travel which added $2k one year, or summer camps, extra trainings, etc.
Not disagreeing with your assessment, just pointing out I can't compare NEFC DA to Stars ECNL, for example only, because it's not a direction comparison. (For that matter, I should've not even mentioned ECNL because I don't have direct comparison from my family to consider).
It will depend on how many road games and events we attend vs. send along with the club. I could get the price down, but then I don't watch my D play which is the entire point of all this....

It’s amazing how you never heard anything bad about the coach or coaches before .Now she’s to be burned at the stake.

Just a question who is going to coach the GDA teams?
Their coaching staff drops off real quick.
Also I know parents like LL coaching the ulittles but how can she coach them if she's coaching the GDA.
Not sure why select is joining GDA they have a good thing going now why mess with it.
Seems like scorps will benefit a little with this.
