I'm not the poster you replied to but IMHO you are the 'dumb' one.

Although the score between Ludlow and Wellesley was only 1-0, Ludlow was a much better team. If the two teams played 10 times Wellesley would maybe get 3 ties and lose the others by an average of 2 or 3 goals. Sorry, they were probably an excellent group of athletes but far from an excellent soccer team. I didn't see either Wachusett or Longmeadow but it's very easy to believe that they are very deserving of 2 and 3 in the state given how they did against Ludlow.

Ok child. Let's presume that Ludlow sucks. Ok child.

Well, they suck a lot less than every other team in the state. Including yours. Or your poor son's.

        Ok. Child?

No they suck like every other high school team. Have a few good players like everyone else then low level soccer just like Western ma club. Sorry truth hurts.

NO ONE cares about club soccer, except the few families of those that play in it. Far more individuals play in High School Soccer, and it has a far greater fan base. Winning the State Championship for your High School is something these kids and classmates will remember for the rest of their lives. Winning anything in club is nice, but no one will remember it in any shape or form. As far as College Soccer goes, more players come from playing for their High School Soccer teams then from those that play in just Club Soccer.

Top club teams do have a greater concentration of the top talent, however this Ludlow HS team would beat 98% of the U18-U15 (HS aged) club teams in the State.

Congrats Ludlow for being the Best HS team in the state, and once again showing that Western Mass Soccer is every bit as good as Eastern Mass Soccer.

This is where high school parents are blatantly exposed for not knowing what they don't know.

Pound-for-pound, easily the most ignorant comment that I've read here in a while. And I was at the Ludlow championship game and I've been the one on here giving them the most accolades. That Wellesley team that Ludlow beat was extremely average and you only beat them 1-0. My son will be playing in the Thanksgiving GPS tournament this weekend. His team would easily beat Ludlow or Wellesley and they're not even playing in a top bracket. Club soccer and most importantly Club coaching is so much better than high school. And your comment about club soccer versus high school as far as college is just plain delusional.

My son plays club and I am not from Ludlow. Just stating facts as I see them.

First, I'm not from Ludlow. Second, if you look at all the players that play in College, few only play for a club. Yes with all the grief it gets, DA is still the best path for a scholarship, but by far most college players played for their HS first, this is FACT!!! Third, most of these Ludlow players also play club soccer. Also many HS coaches also coach for club teams, so do they just turn stupid when they walk onto the HS field? I don't know the Ludlow coach so I do not know if that is true in this case. Fourth, if weather permits, good luck to your sons team in the tournament, but your sons team would be hard pressed to score on this Ludlow team!

Even the players ON the Ludlow HS team ; who play on a good club team, would pick the club team in a game Vs Ludlow

It would have to be a very good club team, but yes, that is in agreement of what I said.

The only part of this that I would somewhat agree with is that 'NO ONE cares about club soccer'. It's true that it is difficult to get a 'fanbase' for a club team. However, that isn't the point of club soccer...it's to play at a high level, learn skills, practice frequently, get more experience by playing year round. So, yes, it would be next to impossible to get a fanbase.

However, everything else you said is ridiculous. There is no way that Ludlow beats 98% of the club teams in the state. My son plays for a regularly competitive D1 High School so he can have that experience with his friends. He also plays high level (non academy) club soccer. I get to see the skill level on both sides. The difference is laughable.

The best soccer players in high school usually play some form of club. When that club player scores for his high school team I would think that most of the fanbase would care about club.

Just about every player on the Ludlow team, also plays club. Still winning with Ludlow means more than winning with their club team.
