Revs with their annual annoucement of college commitments. Only 3 MA players, all already listed. Seems to some debate whether one still plays there.

Funny to see Revs claiming Ryan Clare. He is from the Bolts and GPS before that. I don’t think he has ever played a game for the Revs. Typical Revs BS to bolster a pretty lackluster commitment list this year.

Wow. Not one strong soccer program in the bunch. A few good academic schools, but soccer wise this might be their weakest year yet.

Dumbest advice ever. Everyone should think of a their plan B this comment reminds me of the kid in the video of the Millennial job interview that's gone viral. Taking a job playing soccer without the commitment to put a 100% into doing that job is just a recipe for disaster.

I never said you're not giving it your all. I was merely saying that players need to realize things can happen and you should make sure you really want the school in case you might not be playing. Don't compromise on what you want from a school just to play soccer. Sh*t happens and the data shows it. In the end the school and what you achieve academically matters more.

Have you noticed how many of the names on these lists actually never play at the respective schools?

No actually. In my class, I'm pretty sure just about everyone who went D1 were atleast on the roster for the fall season. However, yes, a lot of them didn't play much or at all and many of them did transfer or presumably quit the team. I think every situation is different though and they can't all be attributed to "soccer not working out".

Same person just had another thought.

In saying this, and I fell "victim" to it if you will, is that many players from Massachusetts end up going to play at a division 1 school and a big factor for them was the ability to say "oh I play at a D1 school" or they want to play at the best possible school athletically even if they may not end up playing much or it's not the best fit. A lot of them come to a realization that soccer isn't working and maybe they don't truly like the school and they end of transferring. Now in my case, I played all 4 years but sparingly. Regardless I still thouroughly have enjoyed my time at school and soccer.

Amazing, he hasn't played one single game with the Revs. Family had a falling out with the Bolts so he joined the Revs for a half season starting next month, then going to college. Who do these people think they are? That commitment list is laughable BTW.

It's the one TS thread truly worthy of reading - in fact it should be required reading for clueless soccer parents and over-eager HS players. Rather than thank the guy, you want it formatted to your liking? No, do it yourself
