BTNT, WHAT? Hitting the lottery? How does having a list of kids (the OP has been doing this for years btw and not for his own ego) suggest some super-duper, outrageous misrepresentation of anything??? I don't see any attached accolades or fancy bios or boasts.

Seriously, 10 years later this isn't funny (and never was), and for you to still be engaging in such steady obscene behavior -- while knowing full well 80% of the readership knows who is doing it and who you are -- is a marvel in terms of what a mind can ignore and how many barriers real pathology can break through.

              OP here:

              What I know is:

              1) Virtually all these kids will be on their designated college soccer roster in August, which is their goal.
              2) Most parents will be able to afford them going there. Those who can't will likely get need $$
              3) Less than 50% of them will play much. Many will be cut/quit.
              4) Around 10 will start a lot for D1 schools
              5) Several may take a shot at the pros. It is unlikely they will make it.
              6) About 10 will be given significant athletic $$ and sign an NLI. Another 5 or 10 might get a little.

It's called life. Right now all they care about is 1. Stop being such a grouch.

So what is your point? Why not just post all the rosters of the active U18 teams and indicate where they are going?

My point is ALL these kids are legit. How dare you suggest otherwise! If I follow you, if you decide your kid isn't going to be the next Lionel Messi on his U14 club team, put him in Rec and just have him play it for fun.

The claim that only second-tier D3 schools give merit aid is patently false. That may be true for NESCAC schools, but they aren't the only game in town.

Read the NYTimes article posted above. It's very consistent with what I've seen with two kids, one not an athlete. Some schools are generous with merit, some less so. But most importantly it depends on how much the school wants you. If your stats are way above their typical applicant they'll almost always be VERY generous. Average=ok money, below average=hardly any. You can use net price calculators or other tools to give you an idea, but you never really know until their package comes across your desk. They have to give more discounts because 1) most are cost prohibitive to many applicants 2) they have to keep drawing good students to keep their stats up high and compete with the many other schools out there 3)they have to stay financially competitive with state schools.
