There are no easy wins in ECNL....it's the national league with the deepest talent 1-18 consistently and every weekend is a battle; usually with hundreds of top D1 eyes watching. That's why even losses are wins, it's better to lose to such highly talented kids than to win against the unmotivated shlubs that couldn't hack it on an ECNL roster.

The talent at 19-28 is also amazing.

Aside from all the ECNL talk, GA, DPL & Impact seasons are right around the corner. Only 6 weeks away!

NEFC’s GA season kicks off with a game in Western NY.

I thought the whole point of adding Syracuse Development Academy was so there wouldn’t be one game trips out there?

DPL schedule isn’t even out yet?

NPL kicks off same weekend as GA:

NEFC game is in albany not Rochester a lot closer…sounds like impact dad who wants to crap on GA…or maybe should click to see where game is. Same place Impact dragged all their teams to in December.

I’m an NEFC parent who supports the club…. Good coaches, facilities, teammates, opportunity, etc… but the spring schedule blows. They need to do better, it makes zero sense. They need to be better or it gives players another reason to leave for ECNL.

The Rochester team is traveling all the way to Albany? So they somehow have a farther drive for their own home game than the away team does?

That’s just dumb, but poor travel is a product of too many patch leagues. I’d be fine with driving to NJ/PA once in a while to play PDA, Match Fit or Penn Fusion, but driving five plus hours for NPL level games is foolish if you are driving by better teams in your own back yard.

Truth, those game would be much better 1-2x a year. But, I’d rather drive to Mendon 3x a week to get coached by SG than listen to SM scream. Practice and development over games.

But that's how it is now. All the leagues available now make it easier to avoid in state competition. If parents saw there's not much difference between some teams and leagues the house of cards would collapse. It wasn't that long ago teams rarely left the state except for tournaments. Now even lower level teams do. As long as clubs have customers writing checks it will continue

                          Does SM coach 2007 now?

                            No, he doesn’t.

I agree that the level of travel is not required by any teams except the very top team of each club. While some parents are caught up in the false prestige of having to travel 5hrs for a league game there are plenty more who are just caught up in the mess. The choices we are given are: Don't participate at all and keep soccer to the town program or keep our players at the clubs lowest levels which are usually not much better than the town program. With those options most of us choose the third one.....bitching about the whole thing on TS

Seems SG been at the helm of the 2007 team for a long time now. Didn’t NEFC use to rotate coaches every couple of years? This group went from PW to SG, correct?
