I’m not sure why Stars and NEFC are obsessed with Select? You two both feel your clubs are so superior to SSS. So why not just NEFC Duke it out in the cock fights. Select parents aren’t even on here anymore. Just fake Stars dads pretending they are SSS parent to stir the pot. Select isn’t trying to be Stars, they aren’t regretting an opportunity to be in the ECNL league. That is NEFC. They are chest pounding to tell Stars they are just as good. Deep anger between two clubs due to close proximity to one another and Stars being part of the currently better league due to more exposure on national level. So I ask why the constant going after SSS, when those parents haven’t been on here in a long time. I’m a Stars parent. We know Select has very solid talent and our ECNL teams every year gain a few Select and Stars players. We welcome those families. Good people. We notice Select families stay in their lane they are not trying to claim GA is better or Select better. It seems the issue is NEFC vs Stars.

          Spirit of Liverpool Elite
          GPS Boston Elite Red

Will FC Boston, FC Stars, Aztec or Valeo have teams who can keep pace with the top four?

First action for these teams will likely be at FC Stars Labor Day tournament with the NEP season starting the week thereafter.

          Who ya got?
Yesterday, wasn’t so caught up in the GA

I have a problem with Select because they have the audacity to charge 30% more than the other clubs for the same product.

I'm happy for the 3 former select girls recruited by Blue. Look at all the money they save a year to play in ECNL. Talk about a great move!! Well done girls. A way better team and competition and to save thousands of dollars as well is a homerun in anyone's book.

I’m not sure what the Select fee structure is but why do you care? It’s not your problem if you aren’t there.

Because that 1100.00 gets him a nice new shaggy rug in. His double wide.

Really, the fee isn't the big factor. The time invested in travel (including practice, matches, tournaments, etc), plus the money for travel are way more.

So the question is overall is it time and money well spent, or not? Most of us have our doubts. Hopefully everybody thinks about that each year, as renewal time comes around.

The critical question is, what are the players goals, and is the club the best way to get them there? Those goals may very well not include college soccer.

Money and time is a major investment on all club teams especially at the higher level. if your child’s goal is college yes SSLECT, NEFC, STARS, and Scorpions are all clubs that offer the most opportunity at the moment for exposure. But none of these clubs get your kid to college. The critical question really is, do you have a kid willing to put in the work academically and physically? Will your kid and your family make sacrifices to get them to be a college level player? All of the clubs have the same goal, usually, to provide an environment for each player to develop to their full potential. Your goal might be that your kid plays on a college team or even to go pro. That’s not the responsibility of any club, that’s on you.

Way more than what? Your town? Your NEP team? More than Stars or other clubs? All of the ECNL national and regional teams travel. Of course Select and NEFC being part of GA and also top 4 clubs in New England will have travel. If travel costs are too much for your family then you need to look into club scholarships. If the amount of playing and practices are too much go to a third team. Top two teams at any club will practice 3 x a week spring and fall, 2x a week winter. They will go to at least 2 local tournaments per season and likely one out of state. If they are on a higher team games will be further away. That’s how it is.

FFS people. Stop worrying about how other families decide to spend their money.

You missed the bigger picture philosophical questions. What does your player want to accomplish on this journey and what's the best way to accomplish it, all while balancing time and financial constraints. It's an important assessment that should be taken from time to time. Lots of families get on the hamster wheel without knowing why or how to get off
