2 - After not getting the "predicted results" against GA teams....... Bring up how much the GA league sucks and that they let in Empire United.
3 - Fast forward to memorial day weekend after all teams have been able to recover from the Covid layoff......ECNL clubs still not separating themselves from the pack....wait until next year, with all the player movement, the gap we have been talking about for the last two years will be backed up with actual results.

Sports are a funny thing. The teams with the most talent on paper do not always win.
kinds of....face it this year has a been a sh it show, not just because of covid but also not being able to relaly have tryouts last year, much more movement and turmoil with GDA falling apart last minute. Things will shake out next year with more clarity.

That said, ECNL still will be #1. Sorry GAL fan, it is the truth. That doesn't mean all ECNL players/teams are great and yes there's still talent left in GAL. But "overall" ECNL came out the winner.

Lets just see how it plays out. Until then it is just conjecture. Given the soccer landscape, ECNL teams should be the clear top 3 in the area.

Gotta love the anti-ECNL crowd. ECNL team goes unbeaten on the weekend, but doesn’t win by enough, so they suck.

If the MA ECNL teams are so bad, just be happy your kid doesn’t play on one of them and move on.

OP never said they were bad but rather there is not a huge gap between them and the other non ECNL clubs right NOW.

The operative phrase being “right now.” The thing about ECNL is that team needs to be strong and your kid should want to be playing on an ECNL team when the recruiting process really gets underway. How good a player is or how comparatively strong the ECNL teams are doesn’t really matter until then. Who cares where you’re playing and whether the team is “successful” when no one is really watching.

Be an impact player on the team when it’s time to invite your 5-10 target schools to see you play, and hope that the team has gotten strong enough to warrant good matchups at the showcases. If you perform well then (win or lose), and get the right grades, the recruiting process should go fine.

The whole discussion on this thread is about "right now".

We get it. In a few years ECNL will remain the king and players will have an easier time of attracting eyeballs. Does not change the fact that as we sit here today very little separation between all these teams.

The other night I took the wife out for our anniversary dinner to Dairy Queen. I was rocking my Girls Academy hat and she was wearing her NEFC sweatshirt. This guy approached us and said that even though his daughter plays in the ECNL and has meaningful games every weekend and will be going to showcases that coaches actually attend, he would gladly trade all that if she could have played on the baddest little team in all the land from U10-U13. True story.

You had me at “Anniversary Dinner at Dairy Queen.”

No respectable NEFC dad would take their wife out on their anniversary to Dairy Queen.
You pay NEFC tuition so you can wine and dine your bride at DQ?
                    Nah fake post.

Club soccer is too expensive, so it was DQ or the Ground Round.

posts a combined score of 3-2 against Impact teams that have lost top players to GA and ECNL... insults a coach... and somehow feels disrespected. Seriously?

Why are we still discussing this year’s teams? Almost all of them will look very different in a week.

A concept lost on these 2007 parents. Not only do teams change but so do players as they continue to get bigger and stronger. In the high school years mental toughness becomes a much bigger factor in success as well. A year from now things look very different.

Next year's 07's will be completely different. Please see NEFC and South Shore Select. Both just got decimated with defections to ECNL and both will look totally unrecognizable. Poor Select and this past Memorial Day Weekend fiasco so we need a lead into next year with some perspective as to the many changes in 2007 going on!!

Bayside 2007 Impact is a better team than Select GA right now. I’d say most of the other non-Select Impact teams are as well. Impact is a better group of teams than GA in New England.
