Start it at 8th grade level so that high school years are competitive regionally.
What you are describing is a competition of existing teams within a region. That is not the model that ECNL is designed to fill. They exist so that all top players within a larger region can come together and try to compete against other regions. It also makes it easier for college coaches to follow that platform for recruiting purposes. You may think this is right or wrong, but that's the reality.

I do see value in the league you describe though. It's too bad they can't settle on just one for that purpose (with the NEP model, call it whatever you want). I think if it was only ECNL or "NEP" (promo/releg) and that was it that would probably be a good situation. But right now there are so many leagues that it's impossible to get all the regional teams together. Roll all the NEP/ECRL/GA/NPL/DPL/etc into one big league!

LOL It makes sense for everything but the special ECNL. Lump them all into one big team based league and see how fast all the best players end up on one team. That would be the National team representing the area. The three ECNL teams now are watered down, that's why they are all middle of the table at best.

Happens at select all the time with their GA teams. See above post. At select new girls from other clubs that make the GA every year bump longtime girls to IMPACT NPL.

So are you saying select is wrong to do this???? And just keep girls they have developed and not try to get better?????

Yes. Your children are placeholders at Stars. No loyalty whatsoever. They never wanted your kid, just your money, until something better comes along. Curious who will be the unfortunate ones to get bumped off. The ones who make the cut will get shifted down the pecking order.

This is true but who cares. Find a better spot for your kid then and I’m sure they’ll be much happier. It’s not for everyone.

Do you think that "loyalty" should be what determines a roster year after year after year? They sign a one year contract. These are the top teams within the club. Of course they are going to always take EVERY best available player from within or outside the club.

You also can't be so naive to think that this is different at any other club? Just because top players aren't looking to come into every team doesn't mean that those coaches wouldn't jump at the chance to add a new top players from outside the club even if it meant moving someone else out.

Loyalty in future years beyond your current contract doesn't exist on top teams within any club, nor should it.

If they are middle of the table at any particular age group it's because other regions have more talent. It happens. Doesn't mean the talent in this region won't/shouldn't aggregate.

But reality is you are the exception to the the rule. By the time you reach U16-17 most of the top players in your age group at various clubs will have navigated their way to ECNL. Stars will have 2 strong teams and the rosters will look very different. It is inevitable.

I guess you can say it's all about money but its really just aggregation of talent.
Not in the 06 group, maybe an outlier

No. It means that the other teams most likely have all the talent on one team... not spread out over white/blue and Scorps. If those three teams combined they wouldn’t be middle table

And if Susa and EM combined they would be better. Or World Class and PDA White. Are you suggesting one team in each state—MA, CT, NY, NJ? Then you could complain even more about travel to games.

Fact of the matter is there are players on both Stars blue and white who are fillers. They don’t belong on those teams. Stars is watered down. You don’t see any other clubs besides Stars and PDA trying to field two national teams.

and what if we gave it a catchy 3 letter acronym? Like, oh I don't know, ODP? hahaha i kid obviously :)

Concorde Fire, Crossfire, Eclipse, Michigan Hawks, Real Colorado, SLSG, Sting Dallas, all have 2 teams. PDA has 3.
