A parent stepped up and secured an indoor spot in order to make sure blue got some consistent practices over the winter due to the cold. The team also trained in acton on Saturday’s and played in a boys indoor league. Coach was involved in 2 out of the 3. It was all indoor / small sided 6 v 6 games. By doing this - it was probably the most blue has played together over a winter season. Many girls do play other sports during the winter. What I don’t understand is after leaving winter training why blue didn’t get back out and participate in some 11 v 11 scrimmages or friendlies in order to prepare for their first league game. If the stars spring kick off happened the weekend prior - that would make sense (I guess) but it’s this weekend. Coach used the white game as the teams first 11v11 workout and it cost him/ the team a league loss. All the girls could have benefited from 11 v 11 full field work in my opinion. Just my perspective on things right now.
Generally agree. One caveat or two - his involvement with the boys league came after it was arranged and the parents had other plans for coaching. In other words he swooped in at the last minute. But he he did show up for the games. Acton wasn’t a team event. It was participation in 5v5 clinics that again the team involvement was arranged by the parents and never came once - though he wasn’t expected to. If JB was solely responsible for the winter they would have done next to nothing.

The op said “No one is leaving GA.”

NEFC DPL dad misread it and said, and I’m paraphrasing, “go ahead and leave mighty NEFC GA for Stars you dumbass, and my kid will gladly fill the void.” And then had to throw in NEFC coaching and teams are, of course, superior.

Wishful thinking. You would be a fool to give up a spot on that team to go to Stars.

          When are Stars tryouts?

I think you’d be hard pressed to find a single player on White that would want to play on Blue as of today. That has nothing to do with who is or isn’t on either roster (although i do get the sense that both teams are close-knit and pretty drama-free, which is always a good thing), and more to do with coaching and the fact that I believe most of the kids and parents are happy with the current situation on the White team.

And the truth is, who “should” be on either team fully depends on what that particular coach sees and values in a player. That’s the case on all teams. I know you are hoping for me to disparage some Blue players, but that’s not happening. Lots of talent on that team. Just like there’s lots of talent on NEFC, White, Scorpions, Select and other teams. The reality is that all of the “best” players will never be on the same team for one reason or another (and having choices isn’t a bad thing).

We agree White is a better situation and a very good team in their own right. I’m not looking for you to disparage players. The reality is that MF had his choice of what was left over after JB picked his team. You seem to think they are “balanced.”

On top of that the club offered futsal on Monday nights & Sundays all winter, plus set up a half dozen scrimmages outdoors whenever the weather was warm. I don’t understand how that’s not happening with you guys?
You are 100% correct. This isn’t delusional parents over-evaluating their kids. It’s obvious what is happening because it has now happened multiple times. The team is unprepared to start the season. The coach is just not engaged and can’t figure out that these 13 year olds don’t know what the 17 year olds he usually coaches know. So they flounder around for a few games, drama ensues as parents get frustrated, kids leave, new kids arrive, the players have some natural talent so they gradually figure out how to make some things work, they start to get better just as the season ends, optimism sets in, off season team training is non existent but the girls find their own ways to stay in shape, start the new season having lost the tenuous progress they were making. Repeat.

Again, full circle back to JB unable to recognize talent. On the other hand, MF has some talented players and unlikely his lazy counterpart, has worked to teach and develop those players. So those are the major differences. MF is a good teacher of the game, JB is an imposter.

What else is new? They apply every year. So does every other GA club. They aren’t getting it.

This doesn't make any sense. ECNL is the top league in the country for girls club soccer. How could any coach not have full control over who they select for their team after tryouts?

How do you know? How are you privy to this information?

They are a second team. It works that way at...wait for it...EVERY SINGLE CLUB

Blue was destined to be the top team. The white regional team is stronger and doing better than the blue regional team. And same goes for the ECNL teams now. Go for the better coach. For the sake of those girls, I’m hoping they get a new coach next year. And sorry for whoever ends up with JB.

But aren’t they treated as en entirely separate club? That MAKES NO SENSE
