as the soccer funnel gets narrower at U14+ it becomes more about rolling up talent. Varies by club but it will be more of a mix of homegrowns + outsiders. Clubs will (and should) always take an outsider they think will be a contributor. They're less likely to take an unknown who will be player #15-22, unless they're really in need of bodies and checks.

At the ECNL-DA level talent wins out. If a bigger fish comes along they get added, maybe bumping someone, or maybe as one more kid added to the roster. If two kids are relatively equal, tie usually goes to the player already at the club.

The schedule for the GPS Thanksgiving tourney is out and the top super group is going to be loads of fun. DA vs ECNL vs NPL will all happen in that top group.

Initial thoughts on this draw is that whoever wins will be 2W-1D-1L, something like that. Very much doubt that any of these teams run the table and go 4-0-0.

I could see any of these teams (outside of NEFC NPL) making the final two, and I'd go with NEFC or FC Stars as most likely winners, but Scorpions or Select would not be a total shock either.

Just like FC Stars did at their labor day tournament. PDA & SUSA (currently 1st and 2nd in ECNL), NEFC (currently 1st in NEGDL) plus a pretty solid Scorpions team all shoved together on the opposite side of the bracket. It worked and FC Stars made the final and PDA knocked off NEFC along the way.

So predictable.

Forget excuses. Honestly, the bulk of what is written on this board revolves around us all wanting our kids to face the best possible competition. NEFC pre-DA not participating is disappointing for sure. Is this a chance to push some ‘08’s that aren’t being challenged by pre-DA? There’s got to be a reason for doing this rather than just not entering the team in the tournament.

I can’t imagine Aztec is happy about their being placed in the second bracket instead of NEFC NPL. They’ve earned their shot at those teams.
