This is wrong. He is a great coach and more importantly a great guy. You are just jealous of his success.

He’s a daddy coach. His d is the worst on the team, yet gets the most PT. They got no offense skill, lucky to have a good goalie and some decent defense. This team will implode, only a matter of time.

That said, it’s crazy to me that you lose a few kids from the Elite team and none of the pre-Elite kids get moved up? Not even one? I just don’t get how clubs get away with doing that.
The second team is/was nowhere near the quality of first team.
The placement was to placate the second team coach; they are now in the process of playing their way down to the appropriate level.

Usually the ones with the most whacked out parents implode in the most spectacular fashion.

Still makes no sense because 11 v 11 is around the corner and if they can't find 3 players strong enough to move up, that first team is going to be seriously weakened when they have to combine those teams...
Wow, should we rename this thread the 2007 SPOL thread? This is vintage TS. Parents involved in club soccer for the first time, good team probably built around 2-3 dominate players situated in an area where there is less competition from the big clubs. Their peak age is usually U11 as they can build around the strong core they have whilst the big clubs are still figuring things out.

What will probably happen is the 1-2 top players will be seduced by DA or ECNL and leave at U13. Given the club's brand and location, it's likely they won't attract many new players and given they will be shut out of the NPL A, Coach may then get frustrated and decide to move the team to one of the big clubs.

I look forward to checking back in two years to see where this team is.

You mean that the daddy coach formula doesn't work? Gasp! You could knock me over with that info.

I'm pretty sure they started the thread so it would be appropriate.

Their game plan is built on pressure. Most young teams can't handle the pressure they apply all over the field. That works great when you play 7v7 or 9v9, but when you get on the big field there is simply too much space to press like that. They will need to adjust their style of play and if they don't have the skill they will be found out. That adjustment is down to the coach. Wonder if he is capable?

SPOL plays an effective yet boring style at this age. Sit back, stack the box and try to score on counter attacks with balls over the top to the two girls who are up field. Lookinging at the NEP standings their average score line is a 2-1 win.

Which is exactly the way 99.8% of the world play, and will certainly be the tactic should these girls be fortunate enough to play in school.
Ever watch the game other than the top 8 teams in the world?

Just what we need-another Lalas to tell us how we’re doing it all wrong.

SPOL plays a much more defensive style than any team in the girls 2007 Premiership. Select & NEFC allow the same amount of goals as SPOL with 2-3 times the offensive output.

You seem to be an expert on the division. Did you watch all the games. Talking krap about 10 year olds make you feel good?

Playing in a top division will lead to less goals. Using NEFC as a benchmark for all other teams makes no sense.

You seem a little butt hurt. Is your kid on this team? There was only one comment directed toward a ten year old and unless you are Matt's daughter's mother you should probably calm down. TS is not the friendliest place, in case you didn't know.

Pretty sure that the coaches, not our kids, are choosing the defensive style of play. And uh, yeah, I watch the games.

Wait, do we have 2 2007 SOL parents arguing with each other on this thread? Oooh, it's too good!
