Depending on who you talk to, '07 Blue players are trash or JB is the issue.

'04 White team dismantled the '04 Blue team last night, I'd say last nights beat
down was worse than the 4-0 '07 White shutout last month. At least the '07
game the Blue gave up 2 penalty kicks and of the other 2 goals only one could
have been considered remarkable. Coaching or players?? Blue '04 has lots of D1 players.
White '07 had lots of good players but GB was off his chair all game pushing his team.

Yes. Not sure if you've ever been to a cattle auction, but it works the same. Players parade around in their kits with their numbers visible, and college coaches competitively bid on them from the sidelines. It's crazy. Thousands of players go into these showcases uncommitted, and come out with full-rides. Wild scene.

No, I didn’t. And yes, he does.

Try to calm down. It’s ok.

                    1. When a player reaches out to a program it provides a stamp of approval which will cause the coach to a least do their due diligence on a player. A player in a lower level league stands a good chance of being ignored.
                    2. When the coach actually does the due diligence and looks at game film they will have assurance that the opponent is high quality and if the player looks good that means they actually are good. A player dominating weak/unknown competition will invite skepticism by contrast.

That's what ECNL gets you. Getting beyond those things requires the player in question to actually be a good player.
This is an important point, and very accurate. It isn't fair, and it does run afoul of equity issues that are so important right now, but it is what it is. College Coaches get so many inquiries that they a) need a proxy for quality and b) easy way to actually see you play. ECNL does both. They were going to showcase anyway, adding an ECNL player to their go-watch-play list is super easy. ECNL is never the why, but it is often the how.

This fallacy that a middle of the road ECNL player has some magic pathway is great marketing
Yes, it is true that the colleges are not wandering around window shopping at these showcases. However, if there are 400+ colleges attending a showcase, there's a really good possibility that the 4-5 that your kid is most interested in will be attending and when she reaches out to ask them to watch her play they might do so. Contrast that with an event where only one or two of your kid's target schools might be in attendance; how will she be seen unless they either watch her tape or see her at one of their camps?

BTW - my kid and a couple of her teammates did get "window-shopped" at showcases. She is tall and fast, and it only took a couple of impact plays for a few schools to check whether she was uncommitted and immediately reach out to her. None of them led to anything, because the schools didn't match what she wanted - which is why targeting and proactive communication is so important. It kind of reinforces what the OP was stating; a player that joins ECNL and hopes to be "found" at a showcase is likely wasting her time.

Can you say with 100% certainty that no coaches will attend the ga showcases?

Where do the players go who can’t make ecnl for whatever reason?

There has to be an end to this madness.

No, they can't say that? Why? Because it's a lie.

In Florida, likely 90% of them were remote because...well....take a guess! But, there were a few in attendance. My daughter spoke to one.

Will they be there in California? Yes, budgets approved, they will. Collectively people need to stop perpetuating this ECNL or nothing commentary. It's a flat out lie.
