Just looked it up. Aztec isn’t even playing in the top group, but teams like Cedar Stars, Syracuse and STA are. LMFAO Aztec dad!!!!

Aztec's doing the best they can. At least at these tourney's they can play some bottom-tier ECNL teams instead of playing up U17 against dregs of Impact NPL (that's gotta seem pointless, driving to those Impact games). MK can't seem to get his team into those top divisions though, weird.

At this point if you're still cheering for teams instead of individual development/visibility (or just satisfied kid is having fun) you're still in U13 land, btw.

6th and 7th place teams in a weak (mid-Atlantic) division. Congrats, I guess….

If Aztec dad was smart, he’d know that it’s more important how many coaches were watching these games. Showcases are meant to get players seen—game results shouldn’t matter. College coaches typically stay for a half and could care less about the score of a game.

Those “weak” ECNL teams will have better college commitments than Aztec…. So, there’s that….

If Aztec dad was smart, he’d know that it’s more important how many coaches were watching these games. Showcases are meant to get players seen—game results shouldn’t matter. College coaches typically stay for a half and could care less about the score of a game.

Aztecs beat the 6th and 7th teams out of a conference of 13. It might be a weak conference, but those are the two teams bracketing 0.500 and sitting just below the Champions League slots. That's similar to where Stars Blue sit after 3 games in the NE conference. Based purely on these game results, Aztecs seems to have the quality to play with at least the middle band of ECNL teams.

If you're arguing that results don't matter at a showcase, then okay maybe you have a point. I wonder though how much players, outside of a few solo stars, can showcase themselves effectively and yet not contribute to winning a game (or at least keeping it close).

Well we know this is a Stars coach. They hate when kids have fun and enjoy playing the sport of soccer. They’d rather be miserable but be seen.

One team is from VA, the other from NC, so Jeff Cup is a local event for them. Hard to take much from showcases, where the smart teams are spreading around playing time and showcasing their players while other teams (where Jeff Cup is their superbowl) are playing to win.
