There’s no doubt they’ve been a big part, but like most things on this board it’s a bit hyperbolic and oversimplified.

It is a great team with a really awesome team culture. Best move we have made.

How do players handle not being rostered for games with such a large team ?

Absolutely insane that any child <U15 isn't playing every game. If you child isn't, look for another club. All about development.

AND NO, not about earning minutes. Too many kids on roster means club collect fees from those kids /parents to make them feel better about themselves about being on a certain team. Drop down a level, play, develope and have fun.

I don’t know how to handle being stupid. Because that’s what you are if you knowingly accept a foster spot on a team with more than 18 players. Unless of course you don’t know. Parents need to ask these questions before signing and paying anything.

This is one I wonder about, as well. Presumably the Blue players that don’t dress could start and/or play the whole game for White. Is the honor of being on the top team more appealing than actually playing?

White and Blue are two separate clubs from a roster standpoint. You cannot jump between the two.

That I understand. I’m not talking in-season. I’m wondering about players 19+ on the roster taking a spot on Blue over what I’d assume is an opportunity to start for White.

^ this guy gets it. If your kid isn't a consistent starter or first sub with significant minutes look for a better fit - even if that means dropping down a level. Rarely playing limits your learning and more importantly can be soul crushing

No one should accept a spot on any team if you're not #1-16.

I see this sentiment quite a bit yet plenty of players are in that situation. Can anyone with a kid in that situation provide insight into why you made that choice?

op here and these are the "reasons" I've seen

                          - parents don't' have a realistic picture of where their player fits
                          - family/player is too enamored with the higher level team and aren't looking at the bigger picture
                          - ego gets in the way, as well as some "keeping up with Jones'" mentality
                          - coach over promises (happens but not as common as some seem to think)
                          - they truly have no other good options in their area (also not that common given all the clubs and leagues out there)

They've gotten all they can get by being the best player on the B team and playing every minute of those games. Now they need to practice with better players and try to earn some higher level game time.

Is that really the thought process? I get that when the second team plays in a lower league. But when you get actual minutes against the same teams the A team faces vs not dressing every game, is being on the A team really preferred? Outside of bragging rights, it’s hard to see that being better for the player and definitely seems less fun for the player. To each their own, I suppose.

The quality of your teammates is more important than the quality of your opponent. Consider how much time you spend in practice versus games.
