    Virginia GDA

    From Oregon Thread
How can anyone possibly argue that Girls DA is going to make elite more accessible? From the Virginia link above:

Program Costs | Fees & Travel
    • Player Registration Fee: $2,500
    • Non-Refundable Deposit: $250 (upon acceptance)
    • Uniform purchase from Ewing Sport (~$275)
    • Additional Travel Costs on per event basis
    • Team travel to Showcases and team travel games
    • Final list of team travel games after release of schedule
    • Actual costs determined by event

Where's the Stars and Breakers links?

I don't think many will be too surprised by this. Only a few actually believed the USS F spin that GDA would be less expensive/more accessible. Virtually the same structure as ECNL, many of the same clubs and coaches, same cost, same travel...and you get to give up your HS sports experiences.

What's interesting is this club has two scheduled dates where they will be looking to ID their kids. It does not say only internal so I assume they would advertise. Will our two clubs take the same approach in January and February?

GDAP will start here next fall, so I assume the Stars and Breakers will do open tryouts at the end of the spring season just like every year.

USSF website says they will not be doing open cattle calls but by invite only. Interested players should contact the clubs. Many of the clubs have already id'd many of the players they're interested in, or want to have try out at least. If you think your kid has the goods contact them and ask to be included.

No "open" tryouts - invite only. Hopefully they run them before ECNL tryouts so that players that don't make the cut can still find places on teams. Boys tryouts, while ongoing (players are invited to practices and obviously player on current teams are always being watched), don't finish up until mid to late June.

What an invite! You are hereby invited to spend $10,000 a year for youth soccer.

Well, if he's all for it then I'm in. For sure my kid is just like his, NT and all. Can't wait!

Oh please. ECNL and other high end leagues are just as costly.

Disagree. It doesn't cost the kid the pride of playing with her high school friends in her community. Can't just measure this in the money we are all tossing in th fire.

No clue. If you read back to when this program was announced, the big proponents on this board were trying to make the case that it would be less costly, and anyone with half a brain knew that wouldn't be the case.

Come on, think of the pride in being selected as one the best 4,200 or so teen players in the country to be trained for the NT.

Completely ignore the fact that most NT players stay on the team for up to 10 years or more and you will be all set to brag at the water cooler when you are working OT to pay the freight.

By definition, it should be less so.
Elite has lost all initial connotations.
