It is time to step back and face the reality that is staring the ECNL in the face at least in this small slice of the soccer world. There are only 3 ECNL clubs around here, of which two are clearly light years ahead in terms of club management, on field success, and player development. Those same two clubs are also in the GDA. There aren't many people accept for those with allegiances to the third club that believe these days that the GDA will not pull in the area's best players. The more likely outcome is that those two clubs will actually also pull in many of the next tier players that want a shot at the GDA as well. There are many that see what is happening as US Soccer giving the DA clubs a geographic monopoly so that through them they can have more control over the development of players in this country ( http://www.ussoccerda.com/161223-wnt...launch-meeting ) and that the true intent of this GDA plan is to actually weaken the hold US Club Soccer has on the soccer in this country. If in fact that is what is truly going on behind the scenes then what is a more likely scenario locally is a move back to USYS with a beefing up of the R1PL and not a strengthening of the ECNL.
