The NPL is absolutely a play to win league. The issue is how it would impact the NEP

There is a valid point that some clubs are getting free tickets. Would be Interesting to put a requirement on the club to certify each team as NPL Quality or opt to play them down. after so many bad certifications the whole club gets penalized.
Promo relegation is far more accurate and far less political. Win you stay in, lose you get relegated.

The argument against promo-relegation back in the MAPLE days was that players would lose the opportunity to play a game they love. Think we can all agree that isn't going to be a problem in the current environment where we now have "C", "D" and "E" teams. Promo relegation just prunes the environment and ensures that the clubs have to put their money where their mouth is so to speak. It would be a good thing. Certainly better than the alphabet league situation we have now. Hope that they put it into practice.

That is why we have a league that makes rules and refs to enforce them, if they do their job then it is all good.

I say let there be good competition for all, this is a win win for the kids.

It is kinda like little league where all the kids in the country start off with a chance to go to the world series.

We need a more competitive environment that is inclusive not exclusive, it should not be just for the select few.

If we improve the system for all then everyone will benefit.

You can say that but all you have to do is read The Lists on TS that track actual performance. More often than not NPL > ECNL.

Agreed that many girls switch clubs and ECNL has been place to be for HS.

Good points. I'm just tired of these clubs with terrible teams still fielding that team in the NPL and wasting everyone's day.

This is a "Mirror Mirror on The Wall" moment for ECNL, and that's why they are lobbing poison apples at the NPL.

Yup. Disruption is painful. DAP disrupts the top.

Nope, not at all. Yes ECNL will lose (not all) of its better players but plenty of players will remain. ECNL will still be a strong venue for college coach exposure. Top NPL players who had been trying to move into that league now will have opportunities to do so and will move. That weakens the teams that remain. NPL quickly becomes the #3 and less relevant league.

Thank you. The present chasm between NPL and ECNL will only continue to widen. GDAP teams are going to fill their rosters with NPL players looking for more. Few if any ECNL girls are going to move to GDAP. 5 years from now we're going to be talking about how GDAP was a huge flop.

This is a silly generalization. Some of the GDAP clubs are quality and some are not. Same for ECNL and NPL. Do your own homework. The organizations designating the various clubs to the various leagues do not seem to engage in a serious vetting process.

Please. NEFC, through the Breakers, will now have GDAP and ECNL to siphon off all of the NPL talent. And in the NE, NEFC was the only quality program. And, the ECNL has added a slew of top NPL clubs into their league going forward this year and next. The numbers don't lie. The NPL will fade.

Not the poster but when speaking in generalities about the leagues overall I agree NPL will be the loser in this situation. Of course there will be local variations depending the clubs involved, but even some top NPL clubs are going to lose top players. Few can provide the same level of exposure as ECNL or GDA. College coaches can only shop so many venues as well. If they think the quality of competition is declining in NPL it will be harder for an NPL player to get their attention. Yes I know coaches shop for players. But playing in a top league gives you pass through the first door into their office.

Fade from what? Shining so brightly like it does now? All of these are youth soccer leagues and will continue to be youth soccer leagues.
