Future of the New England Girls NPL

Ok serious question here what is the future?

Seacoast - seems to be coming on strong by consolidating all their top kids on the NPL team.
NEFC - DAP
GPS - hit or miss
Aztec - to many teams that don't belong
SS Selects - great addition
Oakwood - DAP
Bayside - mostly below average
Yankee - terrible
Wildcard - been great but only one year

I think a reshuffle is in order and placing the best teams not clubs in the league is the way to go.

Are you proposing NEP simply label the top bracket NPL, or that NPL should extend olive branch to Maple and accept top teams from both NEP and MAPLE?

Label the top of NEP the NPL with promotion relegation. Some of these clubs can't cut it across the board. Forget about handing clubs a golden pass reward good teams.

I see this 180-degrees differently. Only bleak for ECNL. Good case to me made that DAP makes NPL stronger. ECNL will lose its best players to DAP. DAP clubs will pull out of ECNL - why endorse rival? - and likely house #2 teams in NPL. NPL now becomes feeder for DAP teams. NPL becomes more appealing, and ECNL struggles with new We're #2 identity.

This is a "Mirror Mirror on The Wall" moment for ECNL, and that's why they are lobbing poison apples at the NPL.

The stronger clubs like NEFC have actually been lobbying for this but the weaker clubs who it would likely impact are not in favor of it because it could end up with all of them on the outside looking in.

But doesn't this give everyone a chance, at least more of a chance then it is set up right now with only a select few clubs allowed in and 1 wild card team?

Let the best teams play in a league with the strongest teams=more competitive games=a better development environment for our players.

This is what we need to promote for our children, and not just for the best, if all the players were playing against teams that were close to their equal and playing competitive matches they would grow as a player both physically and emotionally, reaching their fullest potential, which in turns teaches these kids to love the game.

All these blow outs and 10-0 matches in the NPL is a waist to the team that lost as well as the team that won, that should never happen at the NPL level and it would not happen if they changed the system.

Clubs say they have good coaches and the right philosophy but are afraid to compete. They would rather be given a leg up it's the American way.

Very good point. As i recall a founding principle of NEP was to be a foil to MAPLE which forces the promotion/relegation scenario. I think NEP does try to Tier the teams, they just do it in a measured vs. forced way. Do you really want the coach of a C team benching players to hold onto that 2-1 victory.

There is a valid point that some clubs are getting free tickets. Would be Interesting to put a requirement on the club to certify each team as NPL Quality or opt to play them down. after so many bad certifications the whole club gets penalized.
