You can look at the names yourself. The Revs never claimed to have the most homegrown players, only the most homegrown minutes - and look where the got Diego, on a bus to Austin after making the league minimum for years!

The bottom line is this-most MLS Owners don't really give a **** about developing talent or understand what it takes - least of all Bob Kraft. As the top of the boys soccer pyramid in NE they do everyone a disservice by caring so little in development and it is super lazy to say that they are just looking for the next pro player.

Most of the 05's that are on the roster this year developed at the Bolts. Most of the core group of that they took to TX as u13's have been cut or left on their own. SO either BH has no idea what he is doing OR other clubs do a better job developing players.

If you want your kid to be a decent player who loves the game and understands how to play as part of a team, go elsewhere. If you want the free gear - go to the Revs, that is about all they are good for.

Most MLS owners are running a business so it’s not that they don’t give a crap about developing young players; it’s that there are so many places to find good players. An MLS owner can get good experienced players from Europe, South America, Africa, or Asia with one phone call. So if you are building a pro team roster do you go with the proven 25 year old guy with a few years in a good European league or wait to see how a 14 year old coming up in the academy is going to perform in a few years? That’s the reality. That MLS set up the academy system and the Homegrown Rule was forward thinking, but the trade-off is that for all those years of club-paid development a Homegrown still has to compete against foreign players for a spot and isn’t going to earn as much right out of the gate.

You mentioned Diego so he was earning $205k in 2020. That’s hardly league minimum, but he wasn’t eligible for free agency where he could earn more until this year. The Revs offered him a decent bump, but he wanted $800-$1million and the Revs weren’t willing to pay that, nor should they considering who else they could get for that money. Doubt he’ll get that at Austin FC either.

And your last sentence makes no sense. “If you want your kid to be a decent player who loves the game” applies to a broad set of players who do not have the skills or attitude to be a professional player. A kid can go play on a town travel team if they are “decent” and just love the game. No problem with that, but you can’t compare that to a player on a pro path. It’s apples and oranges. Maybe that’s your disconnect here.

People on this thread defending the Revs are either working for them or are new to the scene in Foxboro. Everything that has been posted that reflects poorly on the academy is true. You can try to make yourself feel better by saying sorry your kid got cut, or sorry your kid didn't make it.

There is nothing holding anyone in that organization accountable and it shows - end of story.

Are you just tuning in? We’ve been talking for 5 years about how badly the Revs suck. We were just making fun of the parents that are still new enough to be wearing the gear. It wears off-trust me. My dog loves the Revs blanket we bought.
