What do first year HG players take home for salary?

Where are the 1st team’s homegrown players currently playing (USL)? Did you happen to watch the FC Dallas game tonight? Do you know how many home grown players on the field at the same time? That’s what an academy is suppose to produce. Pull your head out of your ass and look around, buttercup.

They can make up to $200k signing bonus and $175-200k salary on the MLS roster. You are talking about reserve team and not 1st team when you mention USL. Yes, FC Dallas has more homegrown, but frankly there is just more talent down there being so close to Mexico. The talent pool here is smaller. Also, as evidenced by many posts on this thread, too many really don’t want to go pro. They think the academy exists to get them into college.

Where are the 1st team’s homegrown players currently playing (USL)? Did you happen to watch the FC Dallas game tonight? Do you know how many home grown players on the field at the same time? That’s what an academy is suppose to produce. Pull your head out of your ass and look around, buttercup.

At the Revs, looks like the most recent group of HGs are getting between $70,000-$115,000 total compensation (base salary $70k-$80k). Not terrible for playing MLS soccer ( and for a job requiring no college degree). Of course, salary increases quickly if you're doing well after a few years under your belt. Diego is making $205k as a 24 yr old... Now what they do without a college degree if they don't do well, I don't know. Pay for school just like everyone else is a perfectly good option.

School would have been mostly paid for in the first place if they bypassed the Revs originally. After they flunk out of Revs U how are they supposed to pay for school? Mom & dad?
