In NPL we don't need to pay for outside training to have any hope to develop.

You may pay more for outside training than I do for soccer.

This is such a stupid statement. Pure marketing B.S. A one time trip. Hell, the first team generally flies coach.

The Revs covered around $18k worth of costs for my kid this past year.

How much did it cost the family to travel around the country to his games? I found that to be more $$ than playing for a local club.

Why does this matter? Is it a bragging rights thing? All the freebies in the world can’t compensate for the lackluster coaching at the Revs. But hey, you get to say “Look at me, look at me!”

Have any of you Rev parents seen the 1st team play lately? They are flat out awful. And they talent (very, very little of it that they developed). I can understand playing there from a few perspectives BUT if you really want your son to be the best player they can be, MAKE SURE you are spending that money that you save on competent, one on one training outside of the Revs. From the top down they are truly clueless about what it takes to be an effective player and team.

                      Ah no, no they didn't.

Poster is ridiculous. The Revs pay for sub-standard coaching, don't even practice the required 4/week, they get gear for free, they cram and many kids onto a bus as they can, same with hotel rooms, buy them cheap unhealthy food. Flights to showcases are bought way in advance at a few hundred a ticket. A survey of MLS clubs asking what they spend on DA showed Revs were the cheapest bastards, literally in last place. $18K a player is laughable.

Prison is 100% free too but no one in their right mind wants to be there.

A shuttle bus? From where? Are they going from house to house?

Crappy Adidas cleats and recycled uniforms sounds just super.

No professional organization should make kids eat the way the Revs do, but it's free.

NPL kids get to enjoy high school, earn good grades and get into better colleges than Revs players. Win, win, win. You can brag all about your free cleats, coach seats and $8 pizzas when you're dropping your kid off at [insert name of local pedestrian college here].

Love to see the perceived costs of this dope's $18k assessment.

                              Rube.

Yeah did the Revs tell him that?

Consider this Rube. Non MLS DA and GDA clubs will want to come close to something near breakeven. A few might take a hit if they can subsidize the losses from other non DA teams, some will make a profit. ECNL takes a bigger profit. Almost none cover travel but coach travel is included in your fees. Ask anyone in non MLS, GDA or ECNL and no one, I repeat no one is paying $18K a year - not even if the entire family goes to every single game. Most times it's about $6K-$10 on the high end for ECNL teams when they have 3 showcases. So please, how is the Revs covering $18? They get all their crap gear for free, there's no filed expenses, they travel like paupers, eat cheap unhealthy food. Coaching blows. Free isn't always worth it.
