My kid was cut, but we were leaving anyway. He is happy back at his old club.

My kid didn't get into Harvard, but he was leaving for elsewhere anyway.

Nope, staying with teammate and his family. Don't know about their talent but the family is solid and in a nice area

The Revs are more like Providence

Still waiting on your criteria for this. Sorry if the word metrics confused you.

Best training in a 5 mile radius of Foxboro.

The training at Revs is pitiful. It’s sad because many great players are recruited and each one of them falls down the rabbit hole into oblivion.

Despite your rudeness let me explain. I have watched both the Bolts and the Revs train several times and the Revs are superior. NEFC has good coaches but the players are not as good. Nobody else is worth talking about.

I have first hand experience with the Revs, the top Bolts teams, the top GPS teams and the top NEFC teams. To say the Revs are superior is disengenuous. The Revs have cache, first and foremost, because they are free. They also enjoy the general consensus, among the least informed, that they offer "professional" MLS training. What they actually offer is decent training. Is it better than the top Bolts, GPS or NEFC teams? No. Is it equal? I think so. What I can tell you is that the continuity of rosters at the Bolts, GPS and NEFC is significantly more stable. The Revs turn over a high number of players each year. They poach an equal number of players. The fact that their superior training can't seem to develop the players they bring in has always troubled me. They squander talent generally. Players are disposable. It's as if they're always looking past 85% of the current roster towards new, shiny novelty players. Also, they rarely poach the best players from the other clubs. They poach by positional need. It plays a large roll in their revolving door recruiting. Their record against the other local teams certainly doesn't point towards any quantifiable superiority. In terms of MLS clubs, they are an underperforming thorn in the DA's side. Someone would need to be much more specific than, "I have watched both the Bolts and the Revs train several times and the Revs are superior," to have any credibility.

They may have cut your kid because of you.

                          New England Revolution Academy

The bottom line is that our beloved MLS team's academy down in Foxboro does NOT have all the absolute most talented players in every age group. They are dispersed everywhere from public and prep schools, the cross town rival Boston Bolts, and quite possibly still playing local town soccer in our communities. The Revs do not have any credible scouting capabilities, nor are they inclined to connect with coaches, players and staffs. They actually think that because they are fully funded and MLS affiliated, they can just sit back and watch the players stream into Empower Fieldhouse. I've spoken to a lot of parents and players that have been very disappointed with their experiences with the Revs and subsequently have been one and done after just one season. Some of the very smart ones with very talented kids have been whisked away and recruited into the Independent School League.
Ultimately these scouting and identification pitfalls fall squarely on the academy, the ownership group, and their level of commitment. They seem like they are not fully invested or engaged with both their youth system and their first team.

                            - Owners that don't care
                            - Management/coaching that puts in the minimal effort required
                            - Churn and burn attitude about players
                            - Insufficient and poor quality training
                            - Refusal to acknowledge the issues and do anything about it

Top it off with USSF's reluctance to admonish a MLS club for nonperformance. The Revs is the only MLS club literally within a few hundred miles. They should be kicking azz in terms of talent draw and performance.

The talent that has walked out or been booted out due to their incompetence is astounding. They truly have no clue as to what they are doing. I'm GLAD that players have had success in ISL or even, yes, in Portugal, because maybe someday, my youngest (and I) will be able to trust the environment at the Revs and actually be proud to say my child was chosen and developed by an MLS team!

I am 100% sure that my kid has developed more at the Revs than he would have anywhere else in MA. Not even close. All you other whiners just have kids that couldn’t handle it. Glad they got cut.
