Right now, though, Revs seem to have locked the other regional DA teams out of the system. Having YNT on your resume is huge for getting noticed if your kid wants to seek higher level play in Europe. Hopefully, a few of these younger Bolts and Seacoast kids, who are already rejecting the Revs, will continue to choose their current club every year, preferring the better development, and will end up breaking the Revs monopoly. Revs will be in trouble once the promise of better exposure is taken away and they are no longer able to attract the best players that other clubs actually developed, as they do now.
Some of the YNT know what they are doing and need to be left alone to do their jobs. The Rev coaches are notorious for trying to influence their process.

If scouts are letting coaches influence the process, then they obviously don't know what they are doing, that's the point.

I haven't kept track of all who've been in the Revs system over the years, but don't the Revs tend to get a lot of players in at the younger ages - players they didn't develop - then many of those players peter out? If that's the case then that means scouts see potential coming in, but the players aren't being sufficiently challenged as they get older. That or the scouts don't know what they're doing. That or the Revs are trying to manipulate the system and know they have a better shot getting younger players in, so they use their chips there.

I think it's more of not leaving them alone to evaluate on their own. Even if they are not influenced, they are distracted.

Lol . Many newbies here . If you've been around long enough you'll find out that scouts in this area are all part of an old boys network . Starting with chief scout and ex middle school guidance counselor Tony LePore who is best friends with bryan scales who is good friends with Scott Donnelly - why do u think revs players have been the only players by far that are invited to regional and national training camps all these years ? It's nepotism and corruption at its finest.

Lots of accusations of that going on in the NY area as well, not just here. We'd all like the system to be politics free and based solely on skill, but it isn't always. But I'm not sure any system would ever be a politics free zone

They could avoid it pretty easily: outside scouts with no possible local connections evaluate for designation to national.

That would be better, but it is small group and they all know each other or get to know each other over time. It's not going to be easy to avoid. It also goes to senior leadership which I put forth that is sorely lacking.

this can be done fairly easily. Top drawer soccer is one organization that is generally not politically connected. They frequently are very tough on MNT games which is something you won't hear from the likes of Tony LePore and his gang.

If the goal is to produce players for the USMNT, then the USSF can use the surplus $150m (less the $8m owed Juergen) to reward the clubs that produce capped players. Likewise, scouts can be evaluated on how many hits/misses that they recommend down the line.

Of course, this is all a necessary shadow of what a pure capitalistic league(s) would have where clubs could buy and sell players. Like in socialist Europe - oh the irony. Instead MLS protect weak, incapable, or unwilling plush owners (looking at you Bob Kraft) from having to compete out in the open. Enough with caps, allocation and TAM etc. Just pay the players, build the stadiums and do what it takes. For starters, maybe MLS could rival Liga MX just south of the border.

                        Just saying...

One more new englander made the TDS standout article for Monday:

D Sloan Sullivan, Oakwood SC – While Oakwood need one more goal in order to advance, Sullivan gave them hope with a late penalty conversion to make it 2-0 against Real So Cal. The left back’s 80 minutes shift also aided the team’s clean sheet.

This does it for the showcase TDS standout players. Two from Revs, 1 each from Bolts, Seacoast, Beachside and Oakwood.

No New England team advanced to the quarterfinals but Oakwood U16s came very close (it came down to goal difference)

Need a major network deal for this to happen. Unimas or Univsion just won't cut.

Call it whatever you like but the tide is beginning to change and non-MLS clubs in the area stand to benefit greatly from the lack of development in Foxboro.
