No, that is true no matter what, not just for this region. DA, Prep school or foreign passport (until Trump stops letting everyone in) is what you need for good D1 these days. There will be an occasional outlier here or there, but it's rare and even more rare that they play much.

I think the poster's point was it took time for DAP to attract boys. Five and six years ago all the top boys were not in Academy. It took time to get established.

No, it took off pretty quickly because there wasn't an organized national platform like the girls have with ECNL. The appeal of playing for free at MLS clubs or against them in highly competitive games was very strong. They also didn't have the HS ban right away.

Not really. My kid was around then and the Revs had a reputation for collecting a lot of skillful players that couldn't end up playing a cohesive game of soccer together. So we avoided them. I think that is better now.
