You dont know how far from the truth this is. There are quite a few on the various 17 and 18 teams that got or are entertaining VERY substantial $$ packages but whatever you want to believe. Suits us fine.

You would hope so with the amount of money parents pay each year in fees

Do any of these clubs( MPS and others) have any former players who have become impact players playing in college or the pros?

A lot of talk about college placements, but so what, if they do not make an impact.

Great Point. MPS Marketing Dept. will just advertise college placement, impact or performance does not matter. Marketing 101, keep it simple.

I am not a huge fan of MPS, but these comments are silly. Many kids go on to play college soccer from many different clubs (including MPS) and have all different kinds of experiences. Many kids need scholarships to attend college and perhaps the goal is not to be the starter but to contribute to a team and to receive money. Every team needs practice and role players. Please don't undermine the value of a scholarship by confusing it with being a starter for the college team and eventually for a professional team.

So all the Club talk and PR has a bench and a few thousand dollar scholarship at the end of the rainbow for most.

Not all kids who play on club teams need scholarships. If soccer can open the college door by offering scholarship money (and to some a few thousand may be significant) why do you begrudge the player. I think that some kids who play on club teams do it just because they enjoy it, especially at U14 and below.

What is your real problem with MPS? Why don't you like the Club?

Exactly, so what if they do or dont make an impact? For 99.9999999% thats the end of the line and as long as they got what they needed out of soccer in order to help them with an education, so what?

                                From another thread...

Posters should imagine what people would say if they knew who they were. I, for one, try not to post anything that I wouldn't want traced back to me. As a result of this, I do not share my firsthand experiences with many of the topics. If I am not brave enough to confront the coaches or club with my thoughts, then I generally control myself and do not post my views. I think that there is a lot that is not being said by people on this forum. Anybody evaluating a club should speak with current team members and members who have left. Also, they should evaluate not only the club, but importantly the coach assigned to the team. It is my belief that many of the criticisms of the clubs on this site will likely have some elements of truth. However, the reality is that many of us don't have options on which team our kids play on and must take the bad with the good.
