That is why MPS is playing SUB region 1, not invited to many, top-level showcase tournaments (and if they do go they are in the 2nd or 3rd bracket) and hasn't done well in the State Cup matches.
MPS provides as much as , if not more training than even the top teams. They train year round, require 2 weeks of residential team camp, take an overseas team trip at U14, as well as provide physical fitness/ speed and quickness training. The large rosters, and lack of Maple restraints on recruiting new players, provide plenty of competition. Players that dog it, don't improve, or concentrate on another sport, often find themselves being passed over for premier team selection and play as they get older.

The players that put out the effort improve considerably.

The level of many of their top MPS athletes is equal to any in the State. They just don't have as many on any single team.

MPS is improving steadily. While some disparage their efforts and cite subregion play as "inferior", others find a glass half full, with more improvement filling it yearly. Rovers parlayed Subregional into a region 1 spot, why can't the Renegades?

If MPS consolidated their best players they'd already be a SC, regional and occasional national force at every age and s ex. Time will tell whether the SOE program will feed enough players to their Club for them to make this jump with multiple teams and no player consolidation.

I have a child playing Maple, considering MPS for next season, and the Clubs in our league ignore the MPS monster at their peril.

translation- larger rosters= larger revenues. The year round fee payers and butt kissers generally play more.

Posters should imagine what people would say if they knew who they were. I, for one, try not to post anything that I wouldn't want traced back to me. As a result of this, I do not share my firsthand experiences with many of the topics. If I am not brave enough to confront the coaches or club with my thoughts, then I generally control myself and do not post my views. I think that there is a lot that is not being said by people on this forum. Anybody evaluating a club should speak with current team members and members who have left. Also, they should evaluate not only the club, but importantly the coach assigned to the team. It is my belief that many of the criticisms of the clubs on this site will likely have some elements of truth. However, the reality is that many of us don't have options on which team our kids play on and must take the bad with the good.

Im not sure where you are located but you can always reach out to the coach of the specific team. It would be well worth your time to go to a few sessions, no strings attached, to see if you like what you see and vice versa.

Read the posts about BTDT's move over.
Light travels faster than sound; this is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

The MPS self promoting machine just keeps on rolling.

Every experience is different. The expectations of the player and his/her family will vary. Their past experiences will have varied. The new experience on the new team may be different from one player to the next. The kid may/may not click with the coach. Hearing the comment about how even kids growing up in the same family with the same parents have different experiences (youngest vs. oldest vs. middle sibling; boy vs. girl; etc.). This is a to each his own thing - and what I want for me and for my kid will be similar to a lot of you and widely varying to what others want/expect for their kid and for themselves. It's not one right way or one size fits all.

Not my kids experiences over their almost 10 combined years. Not all played their full careers at MPS, so we aren't MPS Cult members.

Why do you even bother writing this stuff? Do you actually believe it will keep players from joining MPS? Apparently not since, as you have stated, they have 5000 players in their program.

The Academy program has done a number on the USL. Looks like the Super-Y league has imploded for 2008. Only four regions exist this year:

Mid Atlantic, New England, South Atlantic and Pacific Northern California

                          Versus nine divisions in 2007

How long before MPS joins Maple?

As long as they get to play Ottawa in Super Y, they will not join Maple.

My apologies for taking some personal time here: Obviously, there is a poster named Guest who believes in his/her prescience to the point where s/he can tell us all what I am thinking before the thoughts cross my mind. Amazing. Let's use your crystal ball for the greater good, shall we? This anonymous poster's bitter sarcasm tastes a lot like the vitriol of the no-name poster who launched posts across my bow this past fall. Don't know what I did to upset you in some past experience or make you feel as if you had to defend your interests, but your defensiveness is clouding your insight. I'm beginning to believe that these forum ghosts really are trying to spook all sensible discussion away from these pages.
P.S. I never expressed concern about any club missing a tournament application deadline. You'll have to find someone else to blame for that one.
                              P.P.S. Peace be with you.

I live in the SE Region. Our Y season does not even start until June/July.

There will and are more regions. Learns your facts before you sprout off like a chicken that is constipated.
