Seriously, I have no issue with clubs coaches/full-time staff being paid well for the work they do; they should and I think that many would love to be in the position of coaching full-time without having to work for additional income...just wanted to disagree with the statement that it is rare...
What really s*cks is when coaching is your second job - When I coached HS I got paid $4,500 a year. It was taxed at 28% plus 15% FICA. I can guarantee you with the thirty plus hours per week it takes to run a HS team it was not being done for the money......... as for when I was running a club? It was all red ink............ I kept my dues low so the urban yutes could afford it. If I charged what the burbs charged I would have been playing a 1-1-1 formation......

There are two Super Y games tonight you could check out.

GU15 Wed Jun 13 6:00 pm Seacoast United at MPS Boston 9/11 Field
GU14 Wed Jun 13 8:00 pm Seacoast United at MPS Boston Medway HS

Since most non-MPS clubs will be having tryouts next week (not sure about MPS), you'll need to marshal your daughter's time well to get her to a couple of tryouts or to watch any practices before the tryout period closes. It might be helpful to check out a Super Y league game or two if you are concerned about quality. Seacoast and MPS are two of the stronger clubs I believe.

Seacoast 15s did scrimmage Stars 14s a few weeks back. They had some good players and seemed well coached.
Thanks for the information, Susy. I went to the GU15 game last night. Good soccer --- 0-0 score. MPS Boston probably had a few more shots but the game was fairly even. Seacoast had one noticably strong mid-fielder (Number 10, I think). The rest of the team was solid but nothing outstanding. MPS Boston had one very strong defender who single handedly seemed to keep Seacoast out. MPS Boston also had one very strong mid-fielder who had a great first touch and won everything in the air.

Both looked like nice clubs with nice coaches and parents.

Seacoast is the NH State Champion and has a couple Mass players playing on it. It seems to be "the club" in NH and of course has access to the facility they built, which is a plus. The parents of the Stars 14s from NH indicated it was by far the best team in the age group (from NH).

Seacoast won 13 State Cup Championships this year.

Epping facility is very nice. 4 turf fields and I believe they are all lighted.
Light travels faster than sound; this is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

That's how MPS Boston looked in the State Cup RR. A few very strong kids (one defender, one midfielder, and one striker). The rest were good but not outstanding. The team has potential but needs more depth. Good team that could be very competitive with some additions.

Which team(s) is this referring to? Just curious...

noticed there are some Stars players actually dual rostered on Seacoast as well.

Isn't this the same for most teams that do the D1/D2 shuffle? I doubt that a team at this age has a lot of kids that came up exclusively through the MPS system but I assume that the expectations are that the players will be kept consistent and that the training and coaching will elevate the level of play. Unfortunately this raely gets you to that next level. The good thing for MPS is that they can still attract quality additions to teams at U16 and above, even if the teams don't establish themselves as first tier by 14 or 15. It may not be next year but I predict that this team will be in the State Cup final by U17 or 18.

They have a fabulous facility in NH (the best in NE in IMHO) & their DOC's are heavily focused on development at ages 10-13 - winning is de-empahized at those ages and at age 14 they begin to shift the focus to translating development into successful outcomes on the field. Because they are flexible in terms of where they place their teams (GSL, NEPSL, Super Y, MAPLE) they are able to match the capabilities of a team with an appropriate venue. They don't cut 11 year old players either. They understand that if development is not accomplished in a 3 month window between August and November that it makes not sense to discard an 11 year old. There are a number of clubs that would do well to learn from that lesson.

yes, I watched one of them play the other night (U-14)

They place teams in multiple leagues so that may be possible.
