The Revs have partnered with Bayside, NEFC and Valeo to use their U12 DAP teams as a feeder system. They've left GPS out in the cold for some reason only they can explain. They could never partner with Bolts because they battle for the same player pool.
The 4 U12 only DAP clubs will carry 2 teams each at that age level. That's roughly 100 kids.
How many kids do the Academy teams take at U13? It's less then 20 I would imagine. Let's use 20 as a nice round number. It's 20% of the players in the 4 U12 DAP clubs.
But wait, the Bolts will have 25+ kids in their U12 DAP program. On top of that remember the 25+ kids at GPS aren't part of the "alliance." That means there are 50 kids unaccounted for in the "alliance" that are gunning for spots on the Revs U13 team each year.
Add to that 50 the thousands of other kids at other clubs looking to make the jump to the Revs.
All of a sudden the "pathway" to the Revs seems awfully crowded. Chosing to play for an "alliance" club for the sake of the alliance alone isn't exactly a prudent decision. There is no DAP at these clubs after U12.
The Revs will take the best possible players that they can identify. They draw from all of the New England states. Will they take some players from the "alliance" clubs? Of course they will. There will be talent there. If your child isn't one of the top 3 players in your U12 DAP club then he has no chance of making the Revs.
GPS has such a deep pool of players to choose from when forming their U12 team. They have to be the odds on favorite to assemble the most talented squad. That means they'll probably send the most players to the Revs at U13.
The Revs need this alliance to keep their RDS program alive. Remember that many of the kids selected for their team come from the RDS program. Remember also that the RDS program is open to anyone that pays to enter. This is another pool outside the "alliance" that's looking for a shot at the Revs Academy.
Think wisely before you choose a club with only one DAP age group because you've been told it's the pathway to the Revs.
In the end the Revs don't care what club you play for.
FC Mass has more players on the U14 Revs than any other club. Think about that. Aztec & Explosion have as many players as Valeo does on that roster.
There's only one pathway to the Revs. Be the best player available at the position they need filled. All this "alliance" nonsense is merely window dressing. If you go into this thinking it's your best option to reach the Revs you are going to be disappointed in the end.
