Wait...The new birth year matrix is the next penicillin. Smart guy though. This birth year is implemented to consume some time. By the time that we realize that he is full of poop and that birth year thing and all of his methods didn't work, 5 years are gone by, America soccer is in toilette, and his pocket is full to retire in his German mansion.

I hope they don't make it to WC.. it would be the wake up call USSF needs.

If they cannot beat out EITHER TT or Guatemala, we should scrap the MNT for 10 years

To "revolutionize the whole player development system" he would need to have a vision of what it should be and that vision should be vastly different from the path USSF is taking now. He either agrees for the most part with what USSF is doing or he lacks the guts to make these hard changes. I suspect it is the former.

Ok, keep dreaming. They'd still get to play Guatemala and T&T at home and then St. Vincent and Grenadines, please. Top 2 in each group get into the Hex.

I like the point someone had about it'd be better if they missed the World Cup entirely, it's a different take. Would it really wake up the USSF to change things? I have my doubts, I think they'd fire Klinsman and clean house and bring in a bunch of new guys who are the change USA needs.

At this point I can't see the US getting past Costa Rica, Mexico, and Panama . Maybe they get fourth and have to play in the intercontinental playoff for the final spot - does not look promising...

We're talking about this current round. In the next round, when we qualify, Mexico we can get results, it's a rivalry game, anything can happen. Costa Rica have had their own post World Cup struggles. Panama is always tricky but USA will be at their best after losing to them in the Gold Cup, but Panama's runner up finish is flukey, their results before and after it have been poor.

tying TT does not bode well no matter how one slices it.

Agreed, but to say they aren't up to par with every team in CONCACAF and that no result at Guatemala means they are looking in is ludicrous, no matter how you slice it. One thing, not an excuse, but playing these teams away is no easy tasks, when they play Mexico or USA, it's like a holiday to the fans and people.

                            What new guys? What change?
There is limited world class talent being produced in the US. Do you read any of the threads here on how winning is more important than development? We will never change this mind-set. Young players win on athleticism, professionals win on intellect, knowledge and skill as athleticism equals out. We do not teach those qualities. I don't know why.
But change at the top achieves nothing. We have to educate parents and players at youth level and until we do, we're dead in the water.
Too many people with too little knowledge making too many decisions. Recipe for disaster and we cook it real well.

I meant by that that US soccer would bring in new coaches who are the change we need, but they really won't be, like Klinsman.

Klinsmann was the change just a few short years ago.
We have limited world cup talent. There is nobody hiding in closets or the pitches of Mass, there is no secret club of unknown players. It will take years at the youth level to fix this.
Bill Shankley could coach for now and it won't make a difference. Stop looking for the quick fix.
