To "revolutionize the whole player development system" he would need to have a vision of what it should be and that vision should be vastly different from the path USSF is taking now. He either agrees for the most part with what USSF is doing or he lacks the guts to make these hard changes. I suspect it is the former.

I like the point someone had about it'd be better if they missed the World Cup entirely, it's a different take. Would it really wake up the USSF to change things? I have my doubts, I think they'd fire Klinsman and clean house and bring in a bunch of new guys who are the change USA needs.

only top 3 teams advance 4th place team enters playoff

Costa Rica have had their own post World Cup struggles. Panama is always tricky but USA will be at their best after losing to them in the Gold Cup, but Panama's runner up finish is flukey, their results before and after it have been poor.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostAgreed, but to say they aren't up to par with every team in CONCACAF and that no result at Guatemala means they are looking in is ludicrous, no matter how you slice it. One thing, not an excuse, but playing these teams away is no easy tasks, when they play Mexico or USA, it's like a holiday to the fans and people.

There is limited world class talent being produced in the US. Do you read any of the threads here on how winning is more important than development? We will never change this mind-set. Young players win on athleticism, professionals win on intellect, knowledge and skill as athleticism equals out. We do not teach those qualities. I don't know why.
But change at the top achieves nothing. We have to educate parents and players at youth level and until we do, we're dead in the water.
Too many people with too little knowledge making too many decisions. Recipe for disaster and we cook it real well.

We have limited world cup talent. There is nobody hiding in closets or the pitches of Mass, there is no secret club of unknown players. It will take years at the youth level to fix this.
Bill Shankley could coach for now and it won't make a difference. Stop looking for the quick fix.
