If you really want your kid to experience soccer in Europe, send them to a high school exchange program and they can be on a mid level club for a season.

That's an interesting option - anyone have experience in this area? We hosted a Brazilian exchange student who tore up American HS soccer but had no club interaction. How would an American exchange student be involved with a club as well as a totally new/diffent env?

The better trips are during April Vacation, at least the good youth clubs are around to train with.

Europe is abandoned only in August.

Until the US pay-to-play model is replaced with a wholly subsidized program selling top-notch players, there is very little chance to develop advanced players short of spending $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and chasing dreams. At least this provides both to US boys n girls.

Relatively few people with beaucoup d'argent want to be professional athletes.
