It is especially nauseating when they keep trying to ascert that their kids are every bit as good as a D1 scholarship athlete only smarter. It is like that crowd has one big insecurity complex.
As does the D1 crowd that is unwilling to admit their kids aren't as smart

Case in point. What does that have to do with recruiting? Nothing but insecurity.

The original question about how many coaches to e-mail suggests this is a d3 thread, because the d1 kids have the coaches contacting them. So leave this thread to those interested in the d3 experience, in which the player has to recruit the coach's interest.

That is simply not true. IMO, the question of the OP is exactly the opposite. D1 coaches can't directly contact a player until Junior year. You have to email schools to get them to come to your games at showcases late Freshman & Sophomore years. D3's can communicate directly once they have an interest from seeing the player. My D received direct communications from NESCAC schools after showcases during Soph year that she had not sent emails to but still had to play the cat and mouse game with the D1's.

Can we finally acknowledge that there is a difference between D1/D2 recruiting and the "recruiting" activity that takes place at the D3 level?

No one on TS will ever admit that perhaps they are not always right, or that not every situation is the same. It's their particular way or nothing at all. It's almost like you have to sign a pledge when you post on this site

More specific, those groups won't even allow a discussion that doesn't conform to their particular view of the world.

More lies. They don't have a particular view of the world. And most don't even disagree with your well-worn points. They're just sick and tired of your agenda. Surely you have more important things to do.

Couldn't agree with you more. Whomever is behind all of the pro D3 vitrol has some seriously warped views and absolutely refuses to accept that some families see a D1 scholarship as something worthy of chasing.

Ridiculous. Most of us if we had a high level D1 athlete on our hands would more than support the kid playing D1...and not just because of a scholarship but because kids naturally want to play at a level that befits and challenges their talent. Same reason kids tend to want to play for better club teams and train with better players. All of this is very elementary and does not require 1500 threads saying the say stuff. What some of do argue is that D3 is still worthwhile, often maligned here, and often grossly underestimated in terms of the talent level required for even a good level of D3.

Seriously? I'm not on this board much and even I've picked up on the D1 or bust attitude some posters have. Not all obviously but there is definitely a war going between the D1 crew (our kids are better athletes) vs the D3 side (but our kids are smarter). Who cares as long as kids are happy where they end up and get a good education?

Actually goes much deeper. It is not as simple as scholarship vs academics. There is a sense of entitlement in much of the D3 vitriol that strike many (including parents with D3 players) the wrong way.

So you were claiming that no one attacks his kids? Sure and like all the guff about Whitman Hansen is just discussion about education in a south shore working town.
