Ohio State (I think they won football national title but could be wrong), Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Penn State, Indiana, Maryland, UNC, UVA, Clemson, South Carolina, Kentucky, Louisville, West Virginia, VA Tech, Pitt, Cincinnati, UCLA, Stanford, Washington, Cal, Oregon State, SMU, Villanova, UConn, BC, Syracuse, Notre Dame (does Notre Dame play football?)...

The sad part about these two posts is this is soccer hedonism and face saving at its worst. This whack job thinks they are the cat's meow but they are just the cannon fodder that are seriously dummbing down DAP. All they did was spend and push the envelope of youth sports so they could con your kid's way into some elite college by manufacturing what are essentially artificial bullet points on their resume. There fallacy here is that all of these DAP players that took a D3 option were something special on a soccer field and chose to pursue academics because they (and there parents) are so much smarter than everyone else that they actually pulled the wool over a professional soccer club's head. The fact is what we are talking about are basically just above average soccer players and students. Very good for sure, but nowhere near exceptional at all. The truth of the matter is if any of these players WERE actually truly exceptional they would have had much better options to choose from than what they obviously did. If they really were all that and a bag of peanuts like their braggart parents like to portray them as they would be going to an Ivy or at the very least one of the "lesser" D1 colleges like a Georgetown, Vanderbilt, Northwestern. Even if they weren't getting any money you can bet that just the ability for the kid to get on the field at that level and allow their parents to brag about it would have steered them in that direction. All of these players settled for the default option and no one won any sort of game. The fact that some see it as a game tells you how frigged up the whole thing is.

BTDT, clearly no one else has your level of knowledge about soccer recruiting for the truly gifted, women's national team level player. We all bow to your unique wisdom.

But that level player is a rare occurrence in Massachusetts. Maybe 1 player every few years fits that bill.

How many kids does Massachusetts produce annually who are able to be starters on top 25 type teams? Maybe a handful.

So, the rest of us, with our pathetic wanna be kids, have a far different landscape to navigate. Different families and players will reach different decisions based on the various factors considered and the weighting assigned to each factor. And, believe it or not, COACHES DO NOT ALWAYS SPEAK THE TRUTH. Or, sometimes speak in half truths, or statements which are easy to misinterpret.

So, BTDT, please do not impose your value set on everyone else. Your decisions with your older daughter are well known. Many of us think we might have decided differently. But we will never know because we do not know all the facts and other people value things differently than you do.
