'Single most unintelligent, and BS post'?? I think not. There are plenty of posts that are truly ridiculous and this is not one of them. While I don't agree that the club 'goes ballistic', I do agree that the 'family has won the game' that they played, especially if the example of the D3 school is Bowdoin or a Bowdoin like school. I would agree, however, that most kids who enter into the DAP realm are thinking D1, but soon might realize that playing soccer (actually on the field) may not happen at a D1 school. At the same time, I also believe that some are able to play soccer at a D1 school, but it is not the school of their liking. There are many reasons why a kid might not be playing a sport after their first year, so it is important to attend a school for reasons in addition to the sport. If your options are a weak academic D1 school vs a stronger academic D3 school, then the choice is clear....assuming that you are not turning professional soccer player.
The decision is based on a balance of variables, but ultimately the decision has to include where the choice will take you 4 years later.
