Counting the three 99s who played full-time on the u16s, 6 players from last year's u14s were starters, which isn't too bad considering they are at the "bottom" of the age group. In contrast, the Bolts had exactly zero full-time players from last year's U14 pre-academy team who started more than 35% of the games at u16 this year. Most Bolts u14 players end up doing u15 pre-academy.
All true, and good points. But on the Revs side you have to consider where that move upwards leaves you, which is in the hands of the least competent U16 DAP coach in the region. Players can learn a lot from each other, but they still need active coaching at this age, and there are much better options than Scales.

Bryan Scales is no more than a townie coach or a middle of the pack club coach. They're are much better options for your sons and better competition/training in the Fall NPL Boys league and getting training sessions with his club team, where he is already known and where his strengths and defficiencies have been already indentified. Not some wannabe Euro so-called pro youth academy system where you need to constantly kiss King Bryan's rear end. For what? The training sucks and kids and parents are noticing. There are much better pathways to college soccer than through the Revs now.

Scales may not be the best coach out there but you are a crack head if you believe there are better pathways to college than the revs.

Both teams have always selected the majority of their players before tryouts

Interesting. Note that USS wants a handful of u14s playing u16 and u16s playing u18.
If they can cut it then national team consideration. This puts the some of the burden on DAP clubs to indentify exceptional talent. Bolts are essentially saying "we don't have any."

Other clubs have a high college soccer ratio, it all depends what you want to and what teams you make

of the 2000's only AST and IA got a good amount of starts and playing time. CH and LD got some decent time but every other 2000's playing time was pathetic. The same thing will repeat itself at U16 (if they make the team). Better to play U15 pre-academy and really play the game than sit on the bench and watch it.

not true. scouts are at the pre-academy games as well. Making U16 DAP at a younger age is not necessarily helpful- kid has a higher chance of not performing well

have you seen the college commitment list for the Revs lately? With one or two exceptions, not impressive at all

Well that's the point. A player who does perform well playing up in this level of competition is something special. Take a look at the younger USMNT teams. Almost all from DAP played up at some point within DAP. They are not looking for 'good' DPA players. There is a reason USS recommended special players playing up. Sounds like you don't really understand the selection process.

Actually I do and don't agree with it. Spain and Holland don't do this mainly because don't want their younger "special" players getting hurt or demoralized. Development is a PROCESS. It can't be rushed. Just ask Adu and countless others.

Countless Others? Move to Holland they will love you there.

typical arrogant american. yeah lots of others in the same boat- you really think all the younger kids are being developed playing up? very few are. Just not emotionally and/or physically ready.

It's not about "all the kids". There are maybe 6,000 DAP players u14-u18. The selection process is, and should be, about finding those 1 percent who do have the mental and physical toughness to play up. The younger USMNT teams play up as a team all the time. You seem to be confusing a general discussion on "playing up" and the original purpose of DAP and what the USMNT is looking for. If a player can't play up one year then realistically he is not national team calibre. Is that really controversial?
