But on the Revs side you have to consider where that move upwards leaves you, which is in the hands of the least competent U16 DAP coach in the region. Players can learn a lot from each other, but they still need active coaching at this age, and there are much better options than Scales.

Not some wannabe Euro so-called pro youth academy system where you need to constantly kiss King Bryan's rear end. For what? The training sucks and kids and parents are noticing. There are much better pathways to college soccer than through the Revs now.

Three of the players had prep school waivers and didn't end up playing much upon their return. Counting the three 99s who played full-time on the u16s, 6 players from last year's u14s were starters, which isn't too bad considering they are at the "bottom" of the age group. In contrast, the Bolts had exactly zero full-time players from last year's U14 pre-academy team who started more than 35% of the games at u16 this year. Most Bolts u14 players end up doing u15 pre-academy.
If they can cut it then national team consideration. This puts the some of the burden on DAP clubs to indentify exceptional talent. Bolts are essentially saying "we don't have any."

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostWell that's the point. A player who does perform well playing up in this level of competition is something special. Take a look at the younger USMNT teams. Almost all from DAP played up at some point within DAP. They are not looking for 'good' DPA players. There is a reason USS recommended special players playing up. Sounds like you don't really understand the selection process.
