GPS ABSOLUTELY brought kids in from their teams which had been eliminated, to play in the final. No doubt. We were shocked and upset at the time, but have now figured out this is how they operate. Nobody is stopping them

"Because of the International age rule, can we combine teams? How do you classify guest players?
Clubs may combine players from teams within the club (i.e. their U11 or U12 teams), with guest players being classified as those hailing from other clubs. Player cards will be checked to verify this prior to play."
Simply - were player cards checked prior to the game(s)? This is an easy question that someone must know the answer to.
You guys can debate all day (or week, or longer) about using players from other states, flying kids to tournaments (wouldn't that ruin a player's amateur status? I don't know if anybody is THAT bold), or if they were on the 17-man roster... but the players were all supposed to have player cards.
If that wasn't enforced, then in theory anybody at all could have played.

Our coach spoke to the GPS coach privately during both games. On Saturday about an incident off the ball, and Sunday about the taunting and trash talking. After the game, our coach spoke the GPS player in front of the GPS coach and told the player that he was great player but the trash talking was classless. The GPS coach nor the referees did anything.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostYa think? It doesn't matter where the players came from. The Needham tournament directors never told anyone to bring player cards, can't even post correct scores, and were more worried about scoring too much on the Dreamteam. No one at the tournament cared that GPS was screwing around with rosters, entered a team with 2001's, and scored too much on NEFC and Aztecs. You do the math.

Is there a GPS parent that can explain how this team was put together and just clear up all the nonsense flying around on here?

Then, you end it. It isn't up to the opposing coach to manage all the players on the field. The opposing coach needed to handle himself better. He was upset about losing and took it out on a young kid. It happens.
