Pick one team and don't make players choose which game. By the way Valeo B team also had 6 games to play. Valeo United would have lost regardless because the Valeo U12 kids were planning on playing in their finals. They could barely kick a ball as evidenced by their performance come Monday. This is on EW's poor management. No one blames GPS.
But no one respects GPS either.

GPS ABSOLUTELY brought kids in from their teams which had been eliminated, to play in the final. No doubt. We were shocked and upset at the time, but have now figured out this is how they operate. Nobody is stopping them
Don't doubt that for a moment. Next time, next tournament take before and after photos of their bench for each GPS team.

They pulled this recently at a futsal tournament as well. But it's funny that all the GPS parents support and defend this. I guess they get sick of losing after a while.

Awful. As a coach you need to be able to reign those comment in... The kid may be a punk or a showoff or whatever but you can't go down into the gutter like that. In the end, the only thing that people remember is your classless behavior, not the player's.

No players on any teams involved, my kid didn't even play at Needham, but I was still sucked into 20+ pages of enthusiastic comments on this group. Despite what may or may not have happened... were the rules followed by whomever was administering the VW tournament?

"Because of the International age rule, can we combine teams? How do you classify guest players?
Clubs may combine players from teams within the club (i.e. their U11 or U12 teams), with guest players being classified as those hailing from other clubs. Player cards will be checked to verify this prior to play."

Simply - were player cards checked prior to the game(s)? This is an easy question that someone must know the answer to.

You guys can debate all day (or week, or longer) about using players from other states, flying kids to tournaments (wouldn't that ruin a player's amateur status? I don't know if anybody is THAT bold), or if they were on the 17-man roster... but the players were all supposed to have player cards.

If that wasn't enforced, then in theory anybody at all could have played.

Oh but it will....mark my words. We found a loophole that we will exploit whenever possible.

Whose place is it? Why didn't the GPS coach reign him in?

Ya think? It doesn't matter where the players came from. The Needham tournament directors never told anyone to bring player cards, can't even post correct scores, and were more worried about scoring too much on the Dreamteam. No one at the tournament cared that GPS was screwing around with rosters, entered a team with 2001's, and scored too much on NEFC and Aztecs. You do the math.

Our coach spoke to the GPS coach privately during both games. On Saturday about an incident off the ball, and Sunday about the taunting and trash talking. After the game, our coach spoke the GPS player in front of the GPS coach and told the player that he was great player but the trash talking was classless. The GPS coach nor the referees did anything.

What do you mean about ruin a player's amateur status? If you pay to fly a kid from NC or GA, then they are by proxy professionals and not qualified?

They also knew beforehand that NH was cheating with 2001s but did not inform coaches until after the fact.

Is there a GPS parent that can explain how this team was put together and just clear up all the nonsense flying around on here?

So, if the coach spoke to the GPS coach privately and the coach did not find it necessary to speak to the player or if the player did nothing to change his behavior ... Then, you end it. It isn't up to the opposing coach to manage all the players on the field. The opposing coach needed to handle himself better. He was upset about losing and took it out on a young kid. It happens.

Are you serious? If an opposing player is cheap shotting and trash talking your kids, and the ref or opposing coach do nothing about it what should the coach do...just let it keep happening until one of his players gets hurt?
